Instead of a fixed number of courses, the chef serves endless omakase piece by piece for about 90 minutes, and you can keep going until the time ends or until you decide you’re full. It makes the experience feel really personal and relaxed, and every piece is served fresh right in front of you.
The fish quality was incredible and each piece was thoughtfully prepared by the chef. You can tell a lot of care goes into every bite.
Also a fun little perk, if you leave a Google review, they offer complimentary sake, which is a great touch while enjoying the meal.
Just make sure you save some room for dessert at the end… it’s worth it.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique omakase experience in the Lower East Side.

We got the Endless Omakase and promptly lost count! 15 course base plus Chef’s Choice unlimited. Variety is good, and in particular I enjoyed the smoked wagyu, bluefin tuna, oyster, eel, and scallop with lime zest.
Perfect date spot!
Their endless omakase can’t be skipped, it’s mouthwatering!! We loveddd their:
• Bluefin tuna w truffle paste – IMO the BEST bite!
• Spanish mackerel w cherrywood smoke
• Fatty tuna w uni (sea urchin)
• Steelhead trout w crispy onions
• Salmon w foi gras
• Hokkaido scallop w truffle salt
Highly recommend Takumi on the lower east side in NYC!!
We eat omakase frequently, and this was the first time we’ve ever had to leave in the middle of a meal, due to food quality.
At the beginning, the quality was good. However, once we reached the tuna and red snapper courses, the quality noticeably declined. My girlfriend’s red snapper tasted foul and not fresh. She nearly spit it out but didn’t want to create a scene in front of other diners. On the way home and later that night, she became ill. I also experienced an upset stomach.
I discreetly pulled our server aside to explain the issue rather than mentioning it in front of other guests. They seemed shocked but not particularly apologetic when I raised concerns about the fish quality.
There were also service inconsistencies. After we were served our second course (yellowtail), another server took mine back because it was missing the sauce. Apparently everyone’s was missing it, but others had already eaten theirs. Mine was corrected only because I hadn’t started. For an omakase experience, this kind of mistake is unusual — dishes are typically executed correctly the first time.
Additionally, timing and service felt off. The sushi bar guests were receiving their plates immediately, while we were left waiting at our table. The overall dynamic felt unusual for omakase. While the servers were polite, the service was slow.
Reservations were also confusing. We — along with other couples — did not realize we had booked a table instead of the bar. The reservation system lists “Omakase Table,” and there was no available option for “Omakase Bar,” which made the distinction unclear.
Overall, a very disappointing experience for what was meant to be a special celebration.
The food, vibe, sushi chef, customer service was 10/10! The pieces were imported from all over the world and our chef, Lee, was so passionate about the quality and worked to get our belly’s full and happy. I will definitely come back here and will try their regular omakase as well!
Tasty selection, solid and accommodating service. Music is a little loud for me personally but not overwhelming to the point of being a problem. I would have liked to have more of the Amberjack(?)Seaweed Salad appetizer. The sauce was excellent. Another highlight was the black sesame icecream dessert. I would have 30 of them if possible over the fish.
