Maria was helpful with choosing beer for two people that don’t drink much beer..lol we had a wheat beer that was very tasty with our food. We went twice on our visit we loved it so much. For lunch once we had a bratwurst plate and a weisswurst plate.. both were great … the dark sweet mustard with molasses made it outstanding! The Goulash is amazing!!!!! The schnitzels we had for dinner were good one jaeger schnitzel and one Rahm schnitzel. The potato pancake was a bit of a let down. All the other sides were tasty. I was inspired to make a spicy brown molasses mustard and German Goulash for the first time after eating there! They turned out really good too! We will definitely visit again when we return!

Overall, we had a good experience. The restaurant had a cool look. The outside The potato pancakes were good- crispy on the outside. They had a hint of flavor, but needed more. It was great with the apple sauce. The pretzel was fluffy and soft with very delicious cheese! It was so cheesy and had a distinct taste.
I think in general our problem was the good was bland. My husband had the chicken sandwich and said it was good- the flavor coming from the burnt parts. I got the beef roast- it was good, but it was slathered in gravy. The carrots and potatoes needed seasoning. My son got the chicken schnitzel. It was soggy. The mashy potatoes had a good texture, but needed seasoning. The spaetzle was also soggy- maybe that’s how they are supposed to be? I don’t know much about German food, but maybe this is how it’s supposed to taste??

We went back a second time and sat in a different room- there were no TVs and the lights were super bright so we got out food to go. The pretzel was just as good. The french onion soup was okay- probably better there. The mozzarella was not was stretchy/stringy as I remember. It also might not have been mozzarella- not sure.

We also had a piece of German chocolate cake. It was good. The cake was moist and the cream was thick with coconut and nuts!

We sat in the room with a view of the river. Best German food consumed in Helen. Server Seth lacked interpersonal skills….. just wanted to complete tasks only. Live music- the gentleman was very talented and had a smooth unique voice. Well seasoned Weiner Schnitzel with tender buttery Spätzle and the best red cabbage ever tasted. The Jaegar Schnitzel was perfectly prepared and tender and the best german potato salad and red cabbage. Do not go to Bodensee in town-horrible food.

Our favorite restaurant in Helen! We never visit without having at least one meal here. I don’t think I’ve ever had the same meal twice, and each meal has been equally amazing as the last. Portions are generously sized and well priced – we almost always bring home leftovers. The cucumber dill salad I had today was especially exquisite. My husband always gets the schnitzel and raves about it each time. Their French onion soup is to die for. We aren’t appetizer people, but the pretzel is an absolute must! Service is always on point. We have never had an experience that hasn’t been fantastic from start to finish. If you’re visiting Helen, while you have countless amazing restaurants at your fingertips, you won’t find one better than Hofbrauhaus!

Great place. When we walked up we were greeted by Charlie ,who was the sweetest. The food smelt amazing. We got a great seat on the patio with our dog. That’s a plus, it’s pet friendly on the patio. Our server Jamie was awesome, very nice and welcoming with great suggestions for food choices. It was beautiful weather with live music. My husband and I really enjoyed while on vacation. Thank you.

Our 1st time in Helen, visiting to check out the town for Oktoberfest. Our meals at the Hofbrauhaus were by far the best we had the entire weekend. The food came out fast, hot, and tasty. The portions were generous and the beer was cold, can’t ask for much more than that! We enjoyed sitting both inside with a view of the river and outside to enjoy the live festive music. The blackberry bourbon smash was also great! You can definitely split the apple strudel. Would absolutely recommend eating here and we look forward to a return trip.

It was our first time here so we were pretty excited. My husband got the Reuben and baked potato I got the Carolina Chicken with German potato and a side salad and all were delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and informative, he checked on us throughout our meal. We sat right next to the river ( inside) -Definitely going back.

We are in Helen, GA, wanting to eat at a famous and authentic German restaurant for the experience. Due to the long wait for indoor seating, we chose to eat outdoor which have no wait. It is right by the creek with beautiful scenery, however, it did get a bit cold towards the end of our meal.

We had a large order of Pretzels with cheese sauce, as well as Potatoe Pancake as recommended by the waiter as an authentic appetizer. Including the cheese platter (Hofbrauhaus Brotzeit Teller), they all tasted very yummy!

For the meals, we had “Open Faced Prime Rib”, “Hofbrau Hoagie” and “Schweinbraten” as well as the “Goulash”. They are all pretty good although a few dishes are on the salty side of our preference.

Overall, we enjoyed the dinner and the atmosphere, as well as our server (Elijah) very much! Thank you!

The place was nice overall. We were a group of six and arrived around 7:00 pm. We waited about an hour to get an outdoor table. Once seated, it took approximately 30 minutes for the food to be served.

We ordered two ribeyes and one hamburger. Unfortunately, all the meats arrived burnt on the outside. We had ordered them medium well, and while the internal temperature was correct, the exterior was overcooked and had a strong burnt flavor, as if the grill had not been properly cleaned. This was very disappointing. Additionally, the food overall lacked seasoning and salt.

On the positive side, our server was kind and attentive, she changed one of our ribeye and it came better. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant. We also appreciated that the restaurant is pet-friendly and allowed us to bring our dog.

The ribeye sandwich was the best part of the night—it had great flavor and was really enjoyable.
