Reviews
Had smoked chicken (tender and well seasoned), pot roast (kinda overcooked but that’s how it’s normally cooked at golden corral), Taco meat (tasty )some veggies. The server asked me if I wanted coffee, which I did accept and got a refill. The experience was very good. The meal was $11.99 for seniors early bird. The menu says $12.49, so I saved 50¢. I was going to give $1 tip, but with the coffee I decided to give $2.
Dinner Nov7.
Comment on steak.
I love golden correl! It’s the buffet of choice for me. I must have been to golden corral restaurants 100s times all over the country.
I come in on the Deluth GA location for a meal and when I asked for medium rare. I got a medium well. Server try to give me medium well. I shake my head and said medium rare. He showed me another medium well. I shake my head and he got angry and just give me a rare this time. I took it (I can eat rare but prefer medium rare) but does not feel comfortable coming back to get another piece after this.
Suggestions: order by number for clearfication. 1-rare, 2-medium rare, 3-medium, 4-medium well, 5-well done.
Comment on tipping
The table server was very attentive and asked me if everything was ok and clear my table. I give half service tip of 10% which is $2.
Although I was not happy with the steak server, it was not the table server’s fault.
I don’t think I should give full service tip of 20% for half service. But I saw many who did not tip. I think it’s up to the customer to give the tip that they want to give, but until tipping is included in the meal, as a customer I feel there should be some tip.
I just moved here and planned on coming back to this location many times. I hope the steak ordering issue is resolved or I will just go for lunch/breakfast.
We sat at 2:00pm. I asked if he was our server and gave him the receipt and he wrote Oscar. Came by once to pick up one plate and never came back. I had to get up and stand by the back server station and asked a sever back there if we could have water. He was a bit confused and I knew he was super busy but without hesitation he gave us the water. He had a plaid green and black looking jacket. However, I’m seeing Oscar walking back and forth and not once did he look our way out come to our table. A while goes by and Oscar came by the table to pick up 3 plates that sat there for an awhile. He had the nerve to ask if everything was ok. I looked at him and said no! He walked away. Not once did he apologize for ignoring us or checking to see if we needed water etc. Time went by and I got up once again and walked to the server station and asked if someone could please bring us coffee. I finally had to explain that the server Oscar is useless and had ignored my husband and I. The gentleman that is station on deserts walked up to Oscar and told him he needs to provide service. Mind you, Oscar was no more than 10 feet away cleaning tables that had been empty for over 1/2 hour. He finally brings 2 cups of coffee and not on spoon to mix our coffee with and walks away. Not once and I’ll say it again not once did he come and say a thing to us. In the meantime all the others were busy and I’m watching how they were checking up on their tables. Those that know us know we leave at least $20.00 on the table. This time $2.00 and I told my husband not to leave a tip.
But he did have time to go back to the station to chit chat.
We left at 3:15.
Omg, I haven’t been here in forever—literally 15 years! I was in Duluth and saw a remodeling sign out front, so my brother and I decided to check it out. First things first—big parking lot, so no stress finding a spot.
Walking in was a little confusing since there wasn’t really any guidance—just some drink fountains sitting at the entrance. We got there around 5 PM, and dinner pricing was about $17.59 per person (after tax, around $20 each). Once we paid, we just found our own table—yep, seat yourself type of spot. Our server, Sunny, greeted us, and she was so sweet!
Let’s talk about the food:
Plate 1: Nachos, potatoes & cheese, fried okra, buffalo chicken bites – 7/10
• Buffalo bites were dry
• Potatoes & cheese had zero flavor
• Okra & nachos were decent
Plate 2: Cilantro rice, baked fish, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, cabbage & Brussels sprouts, garlic cheese biscuits – 5/10
• The rice was hard as rocks
• Baked fish had no flavor
• Meatloaf & mashed potatoes? So good
• Cabbage & Brussels sprouts were a nice surprise
• Garlic cheese biscuits looked like Red Lobster’s but tasted dry & bland
Plate 3: Fried fish, fried shrimp, hush puppies, crab cakes, potato salad, coleslaw – 6/10
• Fried fish with tartar sauce? A win
• Hush puppies were extra crispy (borderline over-fried)
• Crab cakes? Just okay
Plate 4: Made my own salad & got steak (medium well) – 10/10
Plate 5: Had to run it back for round 2 of my salad & steak – 10/10 again!
Plate 6: Ice cream with caramel & New York cheesecake – 1/10
• Yeah… no. Just weird.
Final thoughts:
• Would I come back? Yes—for the steak & salad.
• The place was clean—employees were walking around wiping down tables and food stations.
• Restrooms? 7/10—clean but had a weird smell.
• Everything else? Some hits, some misses, but overall decent.
Recap:
When you walk in, grab your drink, pay at the cashier, seat yourself, and a server will stop by for your drink order. After that, it’s all-you-can-eat, so go crazy. The inside looks really nice now, so if you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out.
