We love going to Russells Diner and really enjoyed our food last weekend! My wife and I had the cajun crawfish and my Dad had the chicken fried steak. We over time have had most items on the menu and so much thought is put into the recipes. Great portions and reasonably priced considering how pricey things are nowadays. The staff is also very friendly. By far our favorite restaurant in the area!

Hidden gem with delicious food! I’ve had the grilled shrimp with peppers, onions and rice, the hamburger steak with broccoli and Cajun fries, grilled red snapper fish with veggies, and the seafood crawfish entoufee with corn and potatoes! So yummy!

The catfish is soooo good! I came a few weeks ago when I was here in East Tx… I came back for my 2nd time!. When I come to town I will visit! and the beans were cooked perfect! I get the catfish plate w fries beans/ coleslaw and hushpuppies. Perfect amount of food. and the homemade tartar sauce is great. not sweet… I love it! Go get yall some!

My husband and I tried this place out last night and left so full! I got the 2 piece fish fillet dinner with fries and he got the grilled fish on a bed of rice with veggies. You will not regret eating here! It was soooo good! I got a picture of mine to send to my son because he loves some good fish, but didn’t get a picture of my husbands.

My family and I live right down the road from Russell’s and pass it everyday. On the weekends, the parking lot is packed. We wanted to try something new. When you walk in, you have to order at the counter and thethey bring the food to you. The overall feel of the place is that of a music venue. There are many pinic styled tables for the patrons. I ordered the hamburger steak and instead of the spicy brussel sprouts, I asked for the grilled green beans. My partner got the shrimp and grits. Prior to the main dish coming out, the nice lady brought use beans and cole slaw. The beans were typical pinto beans but were flavorful. The coleslaw was amazing. When we got the food, we were shocked at the portion size. The food was delicious. The shrimp and grits were spot on. the price was reasonable and the service was great. We will absolutely be returning to this little hidden gem in between Gilmer and Bettie.

The outside looks like an old shop or something, but inside is a quirky restaurant with very good food, the specialty is catfish and they have chicken fried steak, burgers, gumbo, the sides are good too, creamy Cole slaw and pinto beans with meat, (probably pork) it was very good.

THIS is what I mean when I say “I want fish” but if fish ain’t your thing, try the chicken because it’s good too! Don’t eat meat? THEN EAT THE FRIES THEY’RE GOOD TOO! You can’t go wrong ordering anything off their menu (so far, in my 3 experiences). My “I don’t like fish or hush puppies or literally anything” child loves eating here we just wish we ventured over to this side of east Texas more often

We didn’t have to wait long for our food which is always nice. Although I was disappointed when I ordered two fish plates (#2 on menu) with an extra filet for each and I did not receive them. We went to the register to let them know we didn’t get them. They told us they already brought it over, but they hadn’t. We had to pay for two additional filets on top of the two extra we had already paid for.
