Island Choice is a hidden gem in Avon Park! We recently had the jerk pork, rice, and mac & cheese. All food is always full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The jerk pork was especially tender with just the right amount of spice. The prices were very reasonable, and the portions were generous.
The co owner, Ms. Wanda, is super friendly and gives that warm, welcoming island hospitality that makes the experience even better. Definitely recommend if you’re craving authentic Caribbean food without leaving Avon Park.

Had the oxtail with rice and cabbage. Omg it was so good I saved some for lunch tomorrow. My babydad had the jerk chicken with rice and cabbage and he ate almost all his. Definitely worth the price. I had the coco bread for the first time and it was so good I would go just for the bread.

It’s the kind of food where you close your eyes on the first bite because the flavor is so good! I was dancing with almost every bite.
The service was great. And they have a beautifully decorated screened in porch area for eating.

I was skeptical of tying this spot because I didn’t see too many reviews and one review I saw said the food didn’t take authentic, but I decided to try it anyway I love authentic Jamaican food And I’ve tried so many and was not impressed but this place is absolutely amazing. The owner did advise me that he is a new local business so that is why he doesn’t have as many reviews I asked for sample. I tried it and I was in love! The food taste amazing taste so amazing. I’m so happy I decided to try it out! Did not disappoint But it is cash only or Zelle or cash app just a heads up

Looking for food. First choice was closed down. Found Islands Choice. Pleasantly surprised. So glad to run across. Jerk Pork so tender and flavorful. I’d be a customer for life if I lived around here.

Wow! Stopped by while I was in the area and I’m beyond impressed. Small shop, not any real room to eat in if there’s multiple people there for pickup, but it’s absolutely worth the visit. I got the jerk chicken with rice and plantains. The seasoning on the jerk chicken was perfect. Not too spicy and full of flavor. The rice was good but I don’t know anyone who prioritizes that, I was more concerned with finishing the generous amount of chicken.

I had to update this because it was so good I had to go back again. Right now I’m eating my cold leftovers from lunch straight from the fridge and it’s still blowing my mind. I also got a couple beef patties this time around, they’re flakey and delicious. So much flavor packed in this food.

I came to Islands Choice on September 19th around 5:45 PM and ordered a red snapper with extra onions, white rice, and oxtails gravy. We sat inside and received our food around 6:00 PM. To my disappointment, the snapper came out completely cold — not “cooled off,” but as if it had been sitting out all day. There was no steam, no heat, just lukewarm fish.
I immediately brought this to the staff’s attention within minutes of sitting down. I even asked another customer to feel the food, and they agreed it was cold. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the lady at the counter refused to touch the plate to check, and her solution was to simply put the fish in the microwave. That is not acceptable. Red snapper is an expensive, fresh dish — I ordered it expecting it to be cooked to order, not reheated like leftovers.
When I asked for my money back, I was told I couldn’t get a refund, nor could I order anything different. My only option, according to her, was to accept the same cold fish reheated in a microwave. I paid cash for this meal, and to be told I can’t get a refund or a proper replacement is unfair and unprofessional.
Nobody pays hard-earned money for cold fish. When customers order fresh seafood, it should come out hot and properly cooked — not cold and microwaved. This experience left me feeling disrespected and cheated. For the prices charged, customers deserve better quality food and better customer service.
