One of the best restaurants in Richmond VA, hands down. Their incredible food is matched with their top notch customer service. We went here on a recommendation from a friend who is a local chef / owner. Did not disappoint. Best Indian food I’ve had in my life no exaggeration. We had the butter chicken, samosas, garlic / cheese naan, shrimp tikka masala, and shrimp biryani. Some of the most creamiest, flavorful, and tender dishes I’ve had. The naan was unreal! Fluffy, moist just perfect. We did not have room for dessert but will definitely come back to try that and their cocktails. Thank you to the entire staff for the delicious food and experience !

Amazing service and food. Our waiter was very attentive and helped to explain the various dishes. The Shrimp Jhinga tomato curry dish was flavorful and savory. Shrimp never overcooked and dry but perfectly prepared. We will definitely be back! Loved their plate presentation as well

Came to Richmond for the weekend, and was surely not disappointed. I’ve been to a few Indian restaurants where the food isn’t that great, but this restaurant is AMAZING. The portions are perfect—if not more than filling, and each bite has bursts of so many flavors. Staff was attentive to ensure that our needs exceeded expectations, and the atmosphere felt so welcoming. Will gladly come back the next time I’m in Carytown!

Received my delivery order incorrectly. I ordered 4 items. For One of the items I was mistakingly given aloo ghobi instead of the butter chicken I ordered. This order was placed on thanksgiving day lunch so they couldn’t have been that busy. How do you make a mistake like this. Really. I Had to come up with a backup for my kids because that was for them. The paneer in the paneer tikka masala that is supposedly a best seller had zero onions and bell peppers and was so watery and tasteless. The paneer tasted just out the package with texture and taste like it was just cut from the package and added to the curry with no cooking. The basmati rice was clumped together like it was not cooked properly and you have to break it up with a fork to get it to separate and grains are still stuck together. How does an Indian restaurant not know how to cook basmati rice! Ghobi was extremely undercooked and crunchy and Omg went to open the naan and that is also not correct. What the heck is this! It’s like an amateur made roti! It’s rubbery thin and flimsy and smells and tastes pre packaged. This is not naan. Almost $100 spent and waisted! I thought we would treat ourself this thanksgiving but you obviously didn’t have enough care or concern for your customers. If you don’t want to be open on thanksgiving you should have just closed or cancelled my Grubhub order if you were unprepared instead of having the nerve to serve me this qualify food! It seems this restaurant doesn’t care about the quality of food they serve for delivery orders.

This was our first time & they made us feel so special and at home. It was our 23rd year anniversary and not only was the food the best food we have ever eaten and the people incredible souls but they surprised us with a beautiful dessert on the house. Everything was gorgeous and tasted out of this world. Thank you for an amazing experience. This will definitely be our new spot. They also asked us if they could take our picture for us. Truly incredible people. A huge thank you to Yatin who gave us great company and service. You Rock!!

I went recently and it was so good! I thought I would miss citizen burger, being there, but once I was there, I’m glad that this has gone in! It feels clean and modern, but still cozy, and the staff was very attentive! I got the lamb vindaloo And it was delicious!

Ordered take-out here for NYE since my go to Indian restaurant was closed. The chicken in the butter chicken was old – very soft and tasted off like it had been re-used a few times. My guests were so disappointed. I called and the person who answered initially claimed it was prepared that day but when I offered to bring it in for them to try instead offered a refund for the dish. No follow up since then, and no refund. Honestly this place is over-rated. The other dishes were average at best and I wouldn’t call it authentic.
Edit: Updating this based on the owner’s reply. I received a call on Jan 8th from Doordash merchant support saying Carytown claimed they tried to issue a refund and to check my app. There was no refund on the app. Currently working with Doordash to sort this out, but after speaking to Carytown’s owner I am satisfied that they have taken reasonable steps to resolve this matter and their offer to make it right. Changing to 3 stars.
