Always outstanding service and willing to get my Tika masala just the right level of spicy for me. Not a beer fan but their 1947 and Taj Mahal are both super. We eat here about 4x a year and have never had a bad meal. They were even kind enough to divide our shared ice cream in three for us. Also, the portions are deceptive. Usually we end up bringing some home but if you are really hungry you might be able we to finish everything. Dishes come with rice but we always order 1-2 orders if regular or garlic naan. It’s a small place but I’ve made reservations for 8 before. They are very accommodating.

I recently ate at this lovely little treat of a restaurant on Amsterdam Ave, Upper West Side, NYC for my birthday. The food was cooked to a very good standard and had a great atmosphere in the restaurant itself. We liked it’s location and would go back anytime in the future, if the opportunity presented itself. Great flavours combined with fresh ingredients made for a great bithday evening meal out for myself and my family!

Absolutely delicious food and amazing service. We were given the lunch special despite it being the weekend (when the special isn’t usually available). Our server was incredibly accommodating and kind. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Definitely coming back, would recommend to anyone

The food was excellent, came out quickly, and everything was so flavorful. The servers were incredibly nice and accommodating, making the whole experience even better. It’s also a great place for big groups — highly recommend! Gluten free options too.

Phenomenal experience!
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and we appreciated the time they took to explain of the dishes. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting—and we couldn’t help but call out the comfort of the chairs. Silly, I know, but after a long evening of walking and embarking on a hearty meal, a good chair with a nice back goes a long way.
The food was truly outstanding. The chicken tikka masala was so tender you could cut it with a fork, and the flavors were spot on. The aloo tikki chaat was a highlight—the sauce was so rich and flavorful that after finishing the delicious potato patties, we asked to keep the plate just so we could soak up every last bit with naan!.And the mango chutney—wow! Sweet but not overpowering, bursting with flavor.
Every dish was a delight, and the generous, kind staff made the experience even better. We can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic, delicious New Delhi cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting.

It’s always a pleasure to have dinner in Swagat. The atmosphere was nice and waiters are friendly. I loved their garden salad and shrimp Marsala. Their salad had a hint of cilantro, and the taste of their Marsala sauce was one of the best that I had so far. I liked how I could still see and distinguish the ingredients in the sauce, which created a wonderful blend of flavors in each bite. Their basmati rice was cooked to perfection. Their lentil soup and chicken dish was great too. The waiters were very friendly. Highly recommend Swagat for anyone who would like to try Indian food. I definitely will return to try more dishes.

The prices are really high for the quantity of food. For the lunch special which is just 12 oz of one Curry with 12 oz of rice and bread was $17 which is higher than the lunch special average of $14 or $15 everywhere in Manhattan.
Now they’ve increased the prices to $17.85 just for that same lunch special. It feels really excessive. I don’t know how they compete with other restaurants. It feels wasteful to order lunch special from here.
