Stopped in to get their lunch special of 2 stuffed cabbages. The portion was HUGE! It was 2 meals in 1!! Also very tasty with perfectly cooked cabbage. I got it with pumpkin bisque soup & mashed potatoes as sides. The soup was phenomenal & the potatoes good (& made from real potatoes ). Hubs got the same except he got their cream of potato soup, which was very good. It should be mentioned all soups are made fresh, in-house!

Stopped in for a quick bite before the Airport. Steak and eggs were good, I typically try CFS at a new place but the recommendation was the steak. Waitress could have been a little more welcoming, but it wasn’t bad service. I’ll go back no problem next time I’m in town.

Classic diner atmosphere combined with generous servings is what you’ll find at the Capitol Diner. From the polished chrome exterior lit in red and blue to the booths and counter with stools, this diner is classic Americana. There is plenty of parking, the staff is friendly, the menu is standard diner fare, and prices are fair especially given the larger portions received. Five stars all around for the Capital Diner.

This was a wonderful place to eat! We had a party of 10 in the service was phenomenal! The food was extremely good! Shepherd’s pie is very unique. It has a delicious beef base what vegetables in a wonderful sauce. And there are two large Scoops homemade mashed potatoes. The beef tips and noodles were also delicious! The sauces very tasty with plenty of mushrooms. Others in our group had the hamburgers which were amazing. Thick and grilled very well! The portions were very generous. It is a great tribute to the capital of pennsylvania! The only problem is that they did not get to try the chicken croquettes! They looked delicious

Kristen was a great server! She recommended the Reuben which my husband loved! I had the chicken stroganoff special and oh my word, it was delicious! Very filling, large portion. The place was clean, restrooms very clean, and friendly staff all around. Wish we had room for dessert!

Busy place, parking spots are a bit narrow and there isn’t a lot of it, considering the size of the place. There was a short wait when I visited, longer for large parties. Service was busy and took awhile. Noisy from the many people who eat here, but you can still have a conversation. Decor is fine, slightly government-themed, neat and clean. Food was fine, much like home-cooked. What I ordered wasn’t fancy, but better than some small diners. Prices were average. No gluten free buns, rolls, or bread. Overall a reliable place for decent food when you’re in Harrisburg.

Was unexpectedly very busy on a Tuesday around 10:30 AM. Service was still very good given that they were clearly understaffed. Food took a bit but we were expecting that after seeing the dining room completely full. Food was delicious,
I highly recommend the breakfast avocado wrap. I was surprised when it came and was actual fresh cut avocado slices instead of the mashed and bagged stuff that most places use now.
