Food was good. You can expect salsa and chips to get you started. The salsa was delicious. Was disappointed they put lard in their refried beans and they don’t have the option to do whole beans instead of refried so we just had extra rice instead. They have many menu options. The food was a little bland for Mexican food but they do have some salsa choices they can bring you to help spice things up. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very clean restaurant. Love the music and atmosphere.

I used to come here regularly when I lived in Renton about 8 years ago, so I was excited to visit while in town and meet up with friends. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the same experience I remembered. The live music was way too loud for such a small restaurant — we ended up just having beers and leaving so we could actually talk somewhere else. Really disappointing compared to the place I used to enjoy. Also, the pricing feels odd — $35.10 is not exactly an appealing number on a menu.

I get the sense from older reviews that this place is under new ownership. The old La Bamba is marketed as a family restaurant, while the new place is this nightlife bar experience. Most of the pictures online are of the old place, so we were a little surprised when we showed up. It felt like a completely different restaurant!
The website tells you to prepare to be *seduced* by a meal that “transcends elegance,” but you’re greeted by this inflatable tube man in the parking lot and a paper tray of salsa at your table. The menu is also has this salacious callout for “aphrodisiac seafood,” which is disturbingly close to the kid’s menu. There’s a surprising amount of neon and an elevated platform for a DJ.
The food had its ups and downs. We shared a plate of the fajitas. The grill items were great, but the refried beans were a little wet and the rice could have been better. The flour tortillas it came with were huge—I’m guessing they are used for burritos most of the time. On the flip side, the margarita was great! Again, this place feels like it wants to be a bar.
Service was okay if a little slow, but that’s forgivable given that toward the end of our meal, a guest who had a little too much to drink tried to fight the barbers next door in the parking lot. Some of the staff stepped in and kept things mostly under control.
I know running a business is tough, and management changes happen, but I think this place needs to decide whether it’s a club or a restaurant. Right now, it’s struggling to be both.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The service was terrific but the atmosphere is strange. It’s like a stoner teenager decorated it. Half the restaurant is typical Mexican restaurant vibes and the other half is a blacklight dance party type of thing. The food was good but not something that we’ll go out of the way for again. The shopping mall it’s in a kind of run down and a little sketchy. The service though was wonderful.

Went to La Bamba with my 3 co workers today. Usually I would recommend this place to anyone, however, today was a different experience. Everyone ordered street tacos because the Menu shows that it’s only $11 for 3 street tacos. One of my co workers ordered beef, and was brought steak, she let it slide because she assumed the prices were the same regardless. But when everyone received the bill it was $6 higher than what was advertise on the menu. When I questioned why the priceds were higher the waitress told me it was because i ordered the steak, but no where on the menu specified that steak, shrimp, etc… was higher.. I really felt embarrassed because it was I who recommended the place. Had we known that the prices have gone up that much, we would have considered a different restaurant. Sadly to say so, this would be my last time dining there.

The portions were very large and the food was excellent. The chicken mole was the perfect blend of chocolate and Smokey flavors. The fajitas were on point. The kid’s menu was reasonable and more than enough.

This place has definitely changed in the last year and a half… Not sure if it’s under new ownership or not but all of our food was terrible. Barely any cheese or sauce on the enchiladas. And the rice taste like it was made with ketchup. Also no cheese on beans? What’s up with that! I’m not sure why they would change what was always a good thing! Plus look at the hard taco do you really think they made that shell themselves. (No Way!) So sick of paying restaurant prices for a box food quality. Plus now I have to cook my own dinner. Such a shame! LOL

I’ve been here a few times for their tacos and I’m never disappointed. The lady who serves me here is always polite and friendly which makes lunch time very enjoyable. Tacos de Asada are my go to I hold the rice and double up on the beans. Certified frijolero
