Chicago staple. I have to, and I mean I have to come here at least once a year. Quality is fairly good. Not as good as it once was. But still not bad. I got a polish, mustard and onion. I feel like they used to give you more fries.

11/3/25 – Jimmy Ahhh Jimmys one of the most popular places to get an authentic Chicago dog but today I did not receive that instead I received some Wisconsin madness with no sports peppers.. oh God help me Please as I thought to myself. I never thought I’ll see the day but hey at least it wasn’t all bad at least they didn’t put ketchup on it. That would be the only reason it’s not getting a zero. We shall meet again Jimmy, Mark My Words.

The staff was great but the hot dogs were just ok. Somebody should’ve gave us the heads up to order a double because the hot dogs are so skinny. The polish was much better.
The french fries were the best thing we got, fresh cut and hot out the grease. I don’t care what nobody says Ketchup is needed on those fries! They almost took my head off when I asked for some Ketchup lol. That hot sauce they gave me was not it. Good experience but our search for the best Chicago dog on our trip continued after stopping at Jimmy’s.

I love this place. Any Chicagoan knows the routine. No ketchup ever, don’t bother asking. It’s a Chicago thing. Yes, the Polish and dogs are just manhandled into the bun, it’s glorious. The fries are soggy, also glorious, try adding cheese. It’s literally the way they’ve been serving their polishes and dogs since the beginning of time. Appreciate it for the mess it is because it’s delicious and a staple to our community. If you like pretty polishes and hotdogs and crunchy fries and ketchup, don’t bother coming here, it’s not the place for you, but it’s the place for us and always will be. By the way, cash only.

Jimmy’s Red Hots lived up to the hype! The hot dogs were exactly as I imagined – perfectly steamed, with a snap to the casing. The toppings were fresh and plentiful, and the fries were crispy and golden. The atmosphere was classic Chicago diner – bustling, friendly, and full of locals. Eating there truly made me feel like I was experiencing a piece of the city’s soul.
Highly recommend for a classic Chicago hot dog experience.

Great place to get a Chicago Hot Dog, Polish or Tamale. No frills place been open since 1954. I’ve been going there since 1977, 48 years. The neighborhood is still a bit rough, but worth it! And all the hot dogs and polish come with fries. They do have a counter you can eat at, or take it to go.

Here in Chicago for a few days and was told to try Jimmy’s. I told the staff “from California and first time here” and they told me what to try. They were so friendly.
Combo Hot Dog and Polish were delicious! Get it with everything!

Thank you for STAYING TRUE to the correct way for a Chicago dog. Every time I come home from overseas I always make a stop. Thank you for everything!! I bought a bag of 8 hotdogs with all the trimmings and fries for 44 bucks. You can’t find that anywhere else. The only one that was here was Demon Dogs. But sadly they are gone.
