Our first visit to scratch. Super cute bakery in a wonderdul neighborhood in Milford, lots of great shops and restaurants on the block. We ordered grilled cheese and grilled eggplant veggie and both were pretty good. Grilled cheese had very little cheese and loaded with onions. The veggie was very toasty and warm – perfect fall weather lunch. The peach tea lemonade was also good, just loaded with ice, we took a few sips snd the drink was gone
Desserts were so good. Flourless chocolate cake – yummy. The creme brulee – FANTASTIC!
Seating outside, but no seating indoors. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
We will definitely give it another stop and try their hot coffee drinks.

Fantastic bacon egg and cheese sandwich, great bagel, great cinnamon walnut scone. Would recommend these above all other choices. The poptart, coffee, and biscuits are ok. The service is fast and nice. The store is on the smaller side so it may get cramped with a lot of customers.

I’m a tourist who loves to try local bakeries when vacationing. I’ve never had better food than at Scratch! We got breakfast here again and again. Once we went to a different spot and realized it was not nearly as good. I loved the variety. I asked the employee what to get and she surprised me by recommending the “morning glory” muffin. Totally blown away by this unassuming muffin. Doesn’t look like anything special but it is moist and delicious with whole walnuts, zucchini and carrots (think sweet with warm spices). Also, their muffins are enormous (I love how they do not use a tiny cupcake size pan with a little parchment liner, these always get stuck to the muffin and I’m not sure their enormous muffins would even fit in a large size liner anyway) bottom line is they are huge, perfectly soft and pillowy inside and crisp on the outside. It was so good I got it every time we went back. My husband got the bagel and lox. He said it was superior to the one he ordered the day before from a different spot. The kids enjoyed monkey bread. While I waited for the order I watched the staff. They are all so polite and friendly. They looked like working there is a lot of fun, joking around and laughing with each other. Don’t worry about a long wait. They have a great order ahead system with little cubbies for to go orders. Every time I went I was in and out in around 15 min (for large order with multiple hot sandwiches and drink orders). They always ask if you want items toasted or warmed. My only regret it that we didn’t swing by to try the lunch menu, it looks really good. The pic is of a cinnamon scone the size of my face, buttery sweet and crumbly. So amazing.

First time visiting Scratch Baking, and I knew it was going to be good just by seeing the line out front—but it moved quickly. I went with my wife, and we ordered a ham and cheese sandwich with bacon on a ciabatta roll, an oatmeal raisin cookie, sliced ciabatta bread, and their homemade lemonade. Everything was delicious.
They offer a variety of desserts that look amazing, along with several coffee options. There’s limited seating—just two outdoor tables—but it’s still a nice spot to visit and return to. Parking is available in the lot at the back.

Everything we had was amazing!!! Savory breakfast items were delicious but their baked goods, wow!!! My husband wanted to try the brioche donut which looked boring to me. I was wrong! It was incredible! So soft and airy. Amazing!! The cruffin was super good too, as was my latte. You should definitely check this place out!!! (I didn’t see any gluten free stuff though)

We went here just because we were driving by and felt like desert. It was just 10 minutes before closing and there was a great selection of breads and deserts. We had a serious lack of judgement and bought 5 different items that looked like we would enjoy. We completely underestimated how good it was. Everything was the kind of good that makes your eyes roll back in your head. The apple galette and the pecan pie bar were especially good. The service was great despite walking in just before closing and the other staff were cleaning like there was an impending military inspection. Definitely stop by this place and try it out. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Service was effective. They have online order available too!
But it was my first time here so I wanted to see the bakery products!
The egg and cheese sandwich of the day was delicious!!! Bread is definitely freshly baked!! Rye with seeds, chewy and yummy!
Cranberry lemon muffin was so good!!! Not too sweet! Moist and tasty!
Monkey bread was one of the best!!!
Chocolate muffin was really good too!
Love the cute logo and the exterior door! Ambiance inside feels a bit dark, menu on the wall wasn’t easy to read. There are seatings outside but nothing inside.

I moved from Milford a few years ago, after frequenting Scratch Baking almost daily, and returned recently for a quick coffee. I had never left a review before now, but felt compelled to after this visit. Scratch Baking is an excellent bakery. Yes, pricey, but within normal for any other coffee shop. Their coffee is consistently high-quality, and their homemade baked goods compete with the best; you can immediately tell you’re eating something made there daily. The atmosphere is upbeat and their service is very prompt overall (busy times do get busy – like anywhere). Highly recommended!

Cute bakery in the heart of Milford with a wide range of sweet and savory baked goods. Unsually good bread. They serve coffee too but there’s only a small strip of a bar in front and no seats so it’s really more of a takeout place. Service was super helpful, friendly, and efficient.

Scratch Baking in Milford, CT is the kind of place that makes you fall in love with food all over again. From the moment you step inside, the smell of freshly baked bread and pastries wraps around you like a warm hug, and you immediately know you’re in for something special.
Every single item in the case looks (and tastes) like it was made with love, because it was. The croissants are impossibly flaky, the sourdough has that perfect tang and crust, and the pastries are always changing with the seasons, keeping things exciting and fresh. It’s the kind of quality that only comes from true dedication to the craft.
And speaking of dedication, the owner is an absolute gem. Warm, passionate, and genuinely invested in the community, she brings not only incredible talent but heart and soul to the bakery. You can feel her presence in every detail, from the thoughtful menu to the welcoming atmosphere. She’s the kind of person who remembers your name, your favorite pastry, and makes you feel like part of the Scratch family.
Whether you’re grabbing a morning coffee and a pastry or picking up bread for the week, you’ll walk out of Scratch not only with something delicious, but with a smile. Milford is incredibly lucky to have this place, it’s more than a bakery, it’s a local treasure.
