My boyfriend and I stopped by for lunch and waited about 30 minutes for a table, which was expected since the place is very small. They were extremely busy, and every staff member was clearly hustling—maybe even a little too quickly, as a few things were overlooked.
We were served chips and salsa when we sat down, but the initial portion of chips was pretty small. They gladly brought refills, though it might help to start with a larger portion to cut down on that.
I ordered the Enchiladas Maria. The menu said they would be stuffed with cotija cheese, but mine didn’t have any. That said, they were still delicious. The mole sauce is made in-house, which I really appreciated because I’m not a fan of the jarred kind. My boyfriend ordered the Tacos de Pastor and loved them. He was initially hoping they would come with rice or beans, but skipping the sides left him with room for dessert.
We ordered the chocolate cake, which was supposed to be served with ice cream, but they forgot to bring the ice cream out. Even so, the cake was warm, moist, and delicious. I also ordered an agua de cajeta—something I didn’t even know existed—but it’s now one of my favorite drinks. I ordered a second one, which they also forgot to bring out with dessert, though I did ask for it to go.
Overall, despite a few forgetful moments (likely due to how busy they were), the food was excellent and we’ll definitely be back. Hopefully next time service will be a bit more attentive!

Omelette Norteño was very flavorful and a good size portion! The pancakes were delicious, melt in your mouth and they come with the plate as a side or you can choose toast.
Cafe de olla is sweetened to perfection you don’t even need to add sugar!

Came for breakfast and it did not disappoint! I ordered the chilaquiles Zactecanos. Everything was fresh and well cooked. I like my chile spicy and it wasn’t but had very good flavor and when I asked for a spicier one they brought me one and it was perfect! The place is a little small but very charming. The café de la olla was the best I’ve had and does not need the creamer. Staff were very attentive and we’re very efficient and clean. Every single table was cleared off, sprayed and wiped and reset. Will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely loved my breakfast and will be coming back to try the lunch. I had the chilaquiles omelette with the mini pancakes. Omelette was bursting with flavor and the cafe de olla was amazing. The atmosphere was nice and tranquil as it was a slow weekday morning. They have a few tables outside and dog friendly too.

Highly recommend the cafe de olla. It is chefs kiss. I had mini pancakes and the maiz omelette. Maiz omelette was stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with sauce and cheese.
Niece got the puerco en salsa, pork chunks in green sauce.
Jamaica hibiscus tea is unsweetened.
Service was sweet and cordial. Restaurant was small and classic decor unassuming unpretentious, with Juan Gabriel ambient music.

I dined in at Maize for the first time, and while words can’t fully capture how much I appreciated the interior design – from the color palette to the lighting – I can’t say the same for the food. I ordered without any expectations, but unfortunately, I left feeling underwhelmed. The customer service also fell short. Given the restaurant’s relatively small size, waiting nearly ten minutes just to receive the bill was surprising and disappointing. Sadly, this visit was both my first and likely my last.

cute looking place. I wish the beans and rice were seasoned, they dont have much flavor other than beans & rice, they are definitely fresh though. The enchiladas maiz had a flavorful sauce.

The food was absolutely delicious, especially the hot chocolate, which was a refreshing surprise since it’s hard to find. However, the aesthetic of the restaurant was a bit off. There were storage bins in the front due to water leaking from the roof from some light rain outside, which didn’t match the overall ambiance.
I had a small group of three, and they refused to seat two of us until the third person arrived. I didn’t understand why we couldn’t sit immediately after waiting 45 minutes for a table for two to four people. Mind you, all of us are traveling from all different directions of town.
The customer service was the worst part. We felt rushed to order at 2 pm, even though the restaurant closed at 9 pm. A friend of mine asked for food to go for her husband and mentioned that she could pay now and pick up the order when we left. However, they brought her the order shortly after.
To top it off, one of the servers dropped and broke a glass in the middle of the restaurant, causing glass to scatter everywhere. It took a while to clean up, and pieces were still visible throughout the small space. I even had a piece stuck in the bottom of my shoe on the way out, which my friends helped me remove after we left.
Overall, I had a great experience with the food, but the poor customer service, aesthetic issues, and the fact that they only have one location make me recommend expanding to a bigger space.
