Best restaurant in Springfield, hands down. Outstanding food and service. It smells amazing the second you walk in the door (kind of reminds me of the rolls at Ryan’s Steakhouse, except better). Catfish and hush puppies are out of this world. Delicious green beans and macaroni. Great rolls and cornbread (we had to try both). I haven’t ordered anything bad from the menu. Looking forward to trying the greens, which were sold out last time. I had enough leftovers for dinner later that night. Next time we’re getting dessert too.

I ain’t going to lie. I started off kind of sketchy with the parking and all the homeless and then when we got in they served us some sparkling water which threw me off and then we each ordered a drink and they didn’t have either drink that we ordered. But the one I got in substitute was pretty good. Then we get to the food. Absolutely phenomenal. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. Probably one of my new favorite spots in Springfield. Also, I almost forgot to tell you that she got the catfish tacos and I got the meatloaf with macaroni and cheese and hush puppies and she also got collard greens and absolutely everything was perfect. Couldn’t ask for anything better. Totally redeem this from a four-star to a five star.

My fiance and I have visited this place 3 times now. (She visited 4…once without me..still bitter about that lol jk) We have tried many different things on the menu and have yet to find anything we didnt love. From the wings, fried pickles, burgers, Philly, fried steak bites, and a few more. Every bite some of the best flavor in town hands down. Dont take it from me. Give it a try.

The food is Fantastic!! The wait time to get in and be waited on, not so good. However, this is one of the most inclusive, easy going group of people I’ve ever seen at an eating establishment and once again, the food is fantastic! They serve beer and wine, dining is casual and food would be categorized as American comfort food. Make sure you have plenty of time to wait but the food is worth it with large portions.

Came here looking for Black owned restaurants in SPFLD and saw one was open for breakfast. Stopped in an it was . The grits weren’t watery and runny – they actually made them the southern way with broth. The scrambled eggs weren’t diluted with milk. The chicken fried chicken was actually seasoned. I’ve been so disappointed in the Springfield food scene but this was the first place that I actually enjoyed the food. The vibes were cool too. They had a Mo Town music thing going on, the service was very friendly and on point. If you ain’t tried their breakfast get out here and do yourself a favor

The whole place smells good. The staff are friendly and fast. The hostess grabs your drink order if the server is busy. Once you order you can choose some music on the jukebox. The food comes out hot and there is so much flavor and freshness. 10 out of 10 the best restaurant in Springfield.

I just ordered from DoorDash and they sent a whole meal of NOT what I ordered nor wanted! I asked for fried pork chops, sweet potatoes WHICH I PAID EXTRA FOR, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. I got 2 mashed potatoes, meatloaf , and spaghetti and meatballs. How about call and ASK what I want if you’re out of sweet potatoes. I want a refund if its not available, not your assumptions. And I never wanted nor would I buy meatloaf when I don’t even like it (not just your meatloaf, any meatloaf)! I’m livid. I’m in a hospital. This was supposed to make me feel better. What a crappy let down.

I remember a few years ago I had gone to a local soul food restaurant and I wanted to try collard greens. I remember being thoroughly disappointed with the chicken, the sides everything… I felt like I would never have a redemption, maybe I just didn’t get it. But after venturing in to Mama G’s, experiencing some of the best customer service and the best food ever, I think I have now come to realize what GREAT quality, GREAT service and a GREAT soul food experience is all about.
I started with the fried crawfish. One might expect with the size that crawfish may be chewy or just taste frozen and fried out of the bag. Not the case. Soft, flavorful, abundant and a great price.
Onto the meal. I had the choose two meat platter. Now, let me preface this with one word. WOW! The fried chicken wings were crispy, flavorful and perfect size. Usually if you go to say Popeyes or KFC, the breading had flavor. But the chicken tastes bland. Mama Gs, what did you to make the skin so perfectly fried and the meat so flavorful with every bite?! Best fried chicken I have ever had.
Next the catfish. Soft, flaky, packed with flavor. I’m not usually a catfish guy, and again I usually expect my fish to taste frozen. Once again, perhaps some of the best I’d ever experienced.
For sides I chose Mac n cheese and collard greens. The Mac n cheese was unlike anything I’d ever had. Very well seasoned, flavorful, hot and fresh.
Now, onto those COLLARD GREENS! I imagine if collard greens needed a mascot, THIS would be the face of the organization. Tasty, full of meat. I ended up dipping my cornbread in the juices.
All in all, fried chicken, collard greens and corn bread are good for the man, but the experience is good for the SOUL!

One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. From being greeted with a hug, to the meal recommendations, to NO employee ignoring me with a “not my table” attitude; Mama G’s is wonderful! The peach-cobbler wings are so good they are almost desert, the mac & cheese couldn’t be any better, the collard greens are the best I’ve ever had, and the Salisbury steak was perfectly prepared. I’m always searching for uniquely Springfield places to bring guests when they visit, and this restaurant easily shares the top spot. Try it, you’ll love it.
