We visited Baobab Lounge on Christmas night, and Azelia made our evening truly faboulus!
She was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we sat down.
What impressed us most was her deep knowledge of the menu. She took the time to ask about our favorite flavors and preferences, then curated the perfect recommendations for both me and my girlfriend. Every suggestion was spot on; the lamb meatballs and the dessert were both absolutely delicious.
To top it off, the Smoked Old Fashioned was hands down the best I’ve ever had! It’s rare to find that level of personalized service and quality, especially on a busy holiday. If you’re at Baobab, definitely ask for Azelia.

After my third visit to Baobab, my feelings haven’t changed. The African decor is out of this world and the flavors of the food and cocktails are impeccable! You can tell a lot of love and pride was poured into this space. Bravo!

Absolutely love this little bar inside of the JW. It’s a very unique experience! The drinks were amazing. It’s a great place to sit and relax and have some great, unique drinks and food. Definitely recommend if you’re walking around the river front area or staying nearby.

Great atmosphere and your lunch bartender was fantastic. He made some great food and drink recommendations, and it was a great start to our food and speakeasy crawl. I even came back this evening to order my husband a nightcap for the room, as we are staying in the hotel.
Some feedback: the gal who is bartendending this evening could use a lesson in treating her coworkers with respect, and better customer service. Her attitude was off-putting.

Some of the best executed and deliciously flavorful food and cocktails we have eaten in a long time. We went back for a second time because the wings were so amazing.
We got the wings, the chicken skewers, the hummus, the malva pudding. There wasn’t a disappointing bite. The peppers in the hummus are divine. The chicken wings are unbelievable. Only have picture of the desert and our totally cleaned plates
Drink favorites were the gin and passion fruit cocktail and the Savannah cocktail. So fresh.
The ambience is also stunning and attached to a super cool hotel. It was such a vibrant celebration of African culture. We truly loved it. Favorite place we went.

This is a beautiful well thought out atmosphere. It takes you to the Serengette of Africa. Animal heads on e very wall. 2 real life size ostriches on the bar. A quiet setting lounge in the back full of elephant heads. I have not tried the food.

The Baobab Lounge is located inside the lobby of the JW Marriott in Savannah. It’s a spectacular hotel on the river. The food here is excellent, and the cocktails are superb. The decor is what earned this bar 3 stars. The theme appears to be fashioned after the big game hunts that take place across African countries. We sat in the mid section of the lounge on a slow Friday afternoon and noticed that not only were there animal trophy heads (stuffed taxidermy), but there were also replicas of African people! But what was truly grotesque was a chandelier fashioned after whips. The whips chandelier was positioned right in front of the African people statues. This wouldn’t be so striking if it were at a hotel that wasn’t on one of the nations most notorious historic human trafficking Atlantic slave ports, Savannah. Savannah has a deep history in its role in the Euro-Atlantic Slave Trade, so this bar almost feels like racially insensitive or overt in your face homage to Whites who hunted big game on Africa, and alludes to the people of Africa being “big game.” I don’t know, go see for yourself. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

This was my favorite place we ate at in Savannah. The food was on point (especially the meatballs) and the cocktails were absolutely delicious! The bartender was knowledgeable and had some fantastic recommendations around the city. This will definitely be on our list for next time we are back in the city!

We stopped by Baobab Lounge during our recent trip to Savannah, and it was such a memorable experience! The place has a unique and stunning interior, decorated with African-inspired decor and a warm, inviting ambiance. The combination of brick walls and wildlife-themed accents creates a cozy yet sophisticated vibe that makes it perfect for a night out or a special occasion.
The menu offers a great selection of dishes with prices in the $20-30 range, and everything we ordered was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we felt welcomed throughout our visit.
We loved the creative and exotic atmosphere – it’s a perfect spot to try something new and enjoy a fun evening with family and friends. Highly recommended if you’re in Savannah and looking for a unique dining experience that blends culture and style.
