What a great discovery this place turned out to be. We noticed a crowd waiting right at opening time and decided to check it out, and the energy inside felt fun and inviting. The food absolutely lived up to the atmosphere. The Reuben egg roll and the mini Reubens were fantastic, full of flavor and perfectly done. I also tried the corned beef hash and a pickle plate, which was exactly what it promised and very satisfying. Definitely glad we stopped in.

Tried this bustling venue this past late March during the week of my eldest son’s spring break and was pleasantly surprised with our very first experience.

Had laid out plans as far picking a restaurant for lunch prior to our trip to the Shedd Aquarium so 11CD it was! This place is awesome and I love that retro feel upon walking thru the front door with oodles of candy to choose from in the front to the left of the main entrance.

Maybe for the locals this is just another eatery but for us far north suburban ppl who only get around to wandering around downtown 1-2x/year, this place is a gem.

The food overall is truly wonderful, started out with Grandma’s Matzoh Ball soup and I went with the pastrami w/fries and their bottomless craft rootbeer. Wife had the turkey club which she liked and our boys just both went with chicken tenders.

Down-to-earth friendly service servin’ up delicious bites at still reasonable prices in an ultra clean dining space. Indeed we will return to this gem if ever visiting the Loop again. I certainly hope for years of continued boomin’ business for the owner(s).

We picked this place because it was walkable from the Shedd Aquarium. The homemade root beer was delicious as were the Ruben sliders and fries. We tried the Matzah ball soup for the first time. The texture was not our thing. We also ordered the cheese and pastrami fries, yummy fries and meat but they were lost in a sea of not the best cheese. Next time I would try to order with no cheese and a drizzle of the thousand island they put on the ruben. That would be phenomenal! The place is adorable and the old school candy shop up front was so fun. The service was great. We will definitely go again.

Me & my mom wanted breakfast the morning after the AC/DC concert on May 24th 2025. So I googled food near our hotel and it brought up 2 places on our way back home. So we decided here so we drove to this area and parked. When we got inside at first I was like I don’t know about this place for breakfast because of the vibe I was getting at first seemed more like a place for dinner. We got sat down to our table and even looking at the menu I was still getting the vibe they were more of Diner for lunch and dinner. I almost told my mom lets go and pay for the drinks and lets go because the options for breakfast were somewhat limited.
Well thank goodness I bit my tongue and just let ride because I was completely wrong. We ordered it was super busy gave us time to look around each of us. The old skool diner look was so amazing and cool. Having old school candy, soda and ice cream too is something you don’t see too often especially in a big city like Chicago. It gave you that old style diner my grandparents and my mother went to in their younger years.
My ice tea was some of the best ice tea I have ever had from a restaurant. Then our food came out. Omg our eggs were huge with nice big strips of bacon. And the sausage links were some of the biggest ive ever seen. Me and my mom got different sides she got pancakes and I got French toast. I have never seen French toast so big and thick as well and so much flavor the syrup just added to it. My mom’s pancakes were as thick as sandwich. I got to taste some of them and they were so fluffy and delicious as well. Everything was absolutely perfect and i mean perfect some. Everything was cooked to superb perfection. I haven’t had a breakfast soo good like this in my life. Again I am so happy I didn’t say lets go and find another place I would of regretted it.

Oh let’s talk about our waitress she was absolutely wonderful always checking on us making sure my tea was refilled and my mom had plenty of coffee too. Oh the bus boys were on point too always clearing the tables around us and taking a plate when we were done. The manager even came around to ask how everything was. Our hostess that sat us was so friendly too. This place was everything and more.
So if you’re looking for an old skool diner that has out of this world food look no further than Eleven you won’t regret it

I was looking for a diner a couple months ago, and stumbled across this beauty. List for 2 months and I’m so excited. We finally came here! I had the Tom Waits and it was more than filling! I didn’t think this much food would actually come with it! The potatoes are perfectly seasoned. The pancakes are out of this world and the eggs are the best I’ve had in many, many years!!!!

Holy…. Cow. Jump in my Time Machine and let’s teleport both body and taste buds to a simpler time with delicious eats and a vibe that is unmatched. The food was quite pricey, but the portions were hefty and the sandwiches were so delicious.. it’s hard to complain. Did I mention the bottomless, homemade root beer and sodas!? Goodness gracious. P.S. The Reuben blew me out of the water. I need this again in the near future.

Thanks so much for the excellent food and service! My Dad and I came here instead of “ the original pancake house” this morning and they did not disappoint! Our waitress was great! We both got omelets! The omelet was great! The potatoes on the side were perfectly seasoned. I’m happy we came to spend time, talk, and have great food together. Thank you!

Very interesting place. It’s a for-real old time diner. The wait is very long which speaks to the quality of food and experience. No seating for waiting diners. Plan on standing for 45 minutes at lunch.

Memorabilia galore. Turn of Century candy counter. Fabulous assortment of Deli products. Pastrami, Reuben, wonderful soups, chocolate Phosphate, Hot ToddiEs, Nightcaps, Fountain drinks.

Ambience is fun, loud, fast. Be ready for very Loud music–blues, Motown, etc. it feels very authentic.

Grilled Cheese and tomato soup was fantastic. Rueben is supposed to be huge!

It’s all worth the wait.

This place was absolutely amazing. The decor was so nice and the music tied it in perfectly. The food?! The food was to die for. I got the salami valor and the Zenith for my mom. Both were stacked high with perfectly cooked meat and a giant pickle on the side. Amazing. The vanilla malt and cheesecake were also delicious treats.

Love the art deco style deli with the concrete pillars and tall concrete ceiling. Jazz music quietly playing in the background. Service was top notch. The rueben and zenith sandwiches were delightful. The fies were hot fluffy inside and well seasoned.
