The friendly and professional manager, McKenna, from Tara Rose recommended Tara Mor for an awesome dinner and booked my reservation for me and sooo glad she did! For starters, I don’t know what kind of magic Chris the bartender used in my old-fashioned with Rye, but it was superb! The service was excellent by Cal who was very friendly and professional. I started my meal with a Caesar salad which was excellent! For dinner, I’m not usually a fan of short rib, but it was their specialty on Sundays and when McKenna recommended it so highly, she added that to the reservation! OMG seriously the BEST flavors that I had all week in NYC, so tender, tasty, and rich! I couldn’t finish it all, because it came with amazing mashed potatoes and all the trimmings, but that’s okay, because I was definitely taking the leftovers home! Kevin, the owner stopped by our table and I told him how impressed I was with everything including the cool elevated atmosphere/vibe. (I didn’t tell him that he is wayyyy under-charging for that phenomenal roast plus that Sunday special even included a drink!! You must reserve in advance–but I promise, I would’ve gladly paid much more). The next day I couldn’t wait until lunchtime to have that amazing meal all over again-it was that good!! So I had lunch at 10

Came to Tara Mor based off of a TikTok recommendation from a friend in Croom, Ireland. The minute we walked in, the bartender (Caolan) greeted us and poured the best pint of Guiness. He told us the history of the bar and story behind it. We got to chat about Ireland with him and stories of Dublin.

Ruth was also so kind and suggested a great whiskey to try.

Caolan provided us recommendations for our upcoming trip to Ireland as we told him we were going in two weeks.

I would suggest this bar to everyone as it’s close to Penn Station and has great staff and decor.

We hosted our work holiday party at Tara Mor and had an amazing experience. Everything was very well executed from start to finish — the staff was attentive, responsive, and incredibly organized. Shoutout to Alison for doing such an amazing job coordinating with us. We rented their downstairs speakeasy, which can hold up to 90 people, and it comfortably fit our group of 60. Everyone had a blast, and the space was perfect for a private event. Highly recommend Tara Mor as a venue for company parties or events!

Great ambiance and beautiful décor, very comfy, warm, and elegant. The bathroom was nice, no shortage of stalls, steep stairs. Music was classic. Lighting was nice.

We came right before happy hour and were told we could be seated for two hours before a reservation, which was totally fine, since we didn’t have a reservation. The happy hour was good, and the lunch special (drink + meal) for $22 was actually an even better deal.

Service was mixed. Our server — a young Irish guy — was great. Toward the end it felt like things shifted into a bit of a frenzy. Our first server shared the business slowed recently and this was their first full house in a while, so maybe that played a role. Towards the end of our meal our server was switched to a brunette who seemed to be in charge, but she wasn’t very friendly and came off a bit rude. We’re hoping our generous tip went to the Irish lad.

Dessert was very basic. The lava cake gave *cough* Domino’s energy, and the “vanilla ice cream” was pretty flavorless. Nothing to write home about there.

TLDR: Stick with the lunch special and skip dessert.

That said, the Negroni, Five stars. Guinness on tap was tasty.

Overall 3.5

Tara Mor is a midtown hotspot that offers a variety of experiences for everyone. Formerly Alligator Pear, Tara Mor is an elevated Irish pub whose food, drinks and service are consistently good. A short walk from MSG, Tara Mora is a great choice for afterwork / after event imbibing. They have an unbeatable $22 lunch special, bustling happy hour, diverse live music and late closings. Go visit!

I had my 30th birthday at Tara Mor in their private speakeasy. For just $45 to rent the room, we had 3 hours with our own room, bar, and bartenders. I brought my own cake and balloons and was able to decorate the entire room. The bartenders were incredible, so quick and SO kind – they truly became part of the party – and the management was amazing to work with leading up to the event. They made my birthday the best I’ve ever had, and I already have other friends booking parties with them. Thank you Tara Mor!! I’ll be back :))

My first time here. Love me a Sunday Roast!Cool, different vibe – blends traditional Irish pub feel with a newer wave cleaner feel.

Got the short rib roast. It’s a hearty serving and i stuffed it all down except for one potato. Meat was great. Loved the trimmings also (especially having both mashed potatoes and roasted potatoes ). Would recommend!! Only $35 per person for the roast and one perfect pint of Guinness.

The staff was welcoming and pleasant.

We visited Tara Mor recently and were greeted with true Irish charm. The hospitality, craic, great food and drinks kept us coming back again and again. A great little find. The food is top notch and all of the staff are lovely. With a special shout out to Robbie,
Thomas and Jennifer who truly looked after us and made each visit so special. In the words of Arnie “we’ll be back!”

I hosted a party in their upstairs space and it was perfect. I had about 50 people but it could have comfortable fit many more. From initial communication and planning with Ali and Steph to night of execution, everyone was so kind and helpful. Our bartenders were Hannah and Conor, both were so friendly and made great drinks! Food was delish!

They let me customize a drink menu and even printed them for me and put them at the bar for when I arrived.
