If you are looking for fresh food prepared with local quality ingredients at the zoo this is the place for you! There are a few good salad options, particularly the cobb salad, and the grits bowls are very unique. The Turkey sandwich with cranberry mayo is also excellent. They even sell local teas! This is a huge step up from the normal fried food and burgers that you can get throughout the zoo. So if you are at the zoo and looking for good quality and something other then fried food or a burger be sure to check out this awesome cafe! As members of the zoo we are definitely going to be eating here again next time we visit!

There’s nothing local, organic or special about this place. I had the club sandwich with that advertised house roasted turkey and Ashe county hoop cheese. Processed American cheese and cheap processor turkey with holes all in it. I can’t believe people actually fall for this and they haven’t been sued for false advertising.
Last time I had the smash burger that advertised cheddar fondue and it was just nacho cheese from a can.

The reason for 3 stars was the fries were very good, but the burger was tasteless and dry. I will definitely get the fries again. The burger not so much.
