What started off well, quickly deteriorated. We were highly anticipating our dining experience at the Dunmore and it ended in gross disappointment.
We arrived on time for our 5:30pm reservation, we were the first people seated in the dining room. The hostess and our initial staff interactions were very positive. We ordered drinks, it took a long time to order our food but that was fine. We got our appetizers and our child’s meal and then things took a turn for the worse.
A staff member asked how we enjoyed our meal and if we were all done but we had not yet received our entrees. We had been there for an hour and a half at this point and our three year old was starting to lose patience waiting. The staff seemed shocked and scrambled to find out what was going on. A different staff person came over to explain that a large table had just left or sat down (it wasn’t clear in the long rambling excuse) and ultimately admitted the kitchen forgot about our entree orders. We told them to just forget about it at this point but they insisted it would only be a few moments. My food was tolerable but underwhelming and my partners lobster was a disgusting texture, it was obvious they rushed our orders and the quality severely suffered. To top it off, there was a miscommunication about the kids menu and what was included in the order. There was no apology or consideration for the poor service which is really disappointing when you’re paying an automatic gratuity. I’m happy to pay for excellent food and service but this just completely missed the mark.

The dunmore is what the pictures show. It’s what you want and expect in a beautiful Caribbean dining experience. The gorgeous view, great service, delicious food, on beautiful grounds in a gorgeous resort. I had blackened grouper which was perfectly prepared. It was accompanied by vegetables and a faroe salad (I think this is spelled right) which I had never had. The whole dish was delicious and the view was impressive from the table. There is a lot of money hanging around this place. Didn’t stay at the resort, just ate here, but you can tell this is high end! The prices are about 20% higher than say govenors harbour area. Maybe 30%. But if you want the same high end treatment from hospitality pros for lunch or dinner this is the place for you! Reservation might be key. Place is hoppin!

The food coming out of The Dunmore kitchen is uniquely outstanding: an incredible tuna tartar to start, a unique lobster with angel hair pasta, coconut curry grouper, flourless chocolate cake with dark chocolate ice cream (double the pleasure) and a banana dessert take on bananas foster. All delivered with Bahamian spirited service. ENJOY!
