I came in with an open mind and high hopes for Southern Express Soulfood, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The ribs were just okay — nothing special. The cabbage was extremely salty, and the mac and cheese lacked flavor and creaminess. For the price, I expected much better quality and taste.
I paid around $75 for two plates, and honestly, it just wasn’t worth it. The cooks refer to themselves as “chefs,” but based on the meal we received, that title felt a bit misleading. Overall, the food could use major improvement in both seasoning and value for the price.

The food is SOOOOO GOOOOD! We had the deluxe plate with (3) Salisbury steaks, red beans and green beans & dinner plate with neck bones, baked chicken, mac-n-cheese and greens. The greens had a good kick of spice and the cheese sauce tasted like it’s made from scratch. I don’t know what to say other than show a before and after. We almost made a trip back to get another plate before they closed but we needed a nap first. The place was very clean and had a full spread of every kind of soulfood item you would want. This was a gem not far from our hotel that we wish we would’ve found the day we arrived. Would definitely come back the next time we visit.

I wanted some soul food pig feet and this was far from it. The greens were to salty and vinger. The pig feet are mostly bones with ginger over load and the Mac and cheese is bland not the soul food I’m used too and for 25$ not ordering again total came to 45 on DoorDash

The food was absolutely delicious! I had the smothered pork chops and meatloaf along with macaroni and cheese & dirty rice! So much flavor and seasonings! The establishment reminds me of a southern greasy spot where mom and elders are in the kitchen making magic happen!! The decor is sort of dated but very clean! If you wants some amazing southern food, check them out!! 10 out of 10, recommend!!

While visiting Vegas we decided to get eomr soul food and leave the strip. When we walked in I did a double take of their hours because a lot of the pans were empty. We inquired about certain items and ultimately decided to order. While waiting for my pork chop. One of the other customers commented they had recently gone viral because of a local foodie. The empty pans made sense. The employee verified and stated they have been selling out all week. We took our food back to the room. I was pleased with my choices. I got the Pork Chop mac and cheese and cabbages my hunny got smothered pork chop, cabbages, mac and cheese and yams. I could have used some more cabbages. They yams were acceptable.

As I am all for supporting the culture I am disappointed to say this was a bad experience as far as the food goes. It was just ok. I can’t say I was pleased at all with the taste of the food. The Mac N’ cheese was salty and the BBQ chicken thighs didn’t have a lot of sauce on them and the cornbread was dry. Despite the food, the service was excellent and very pleasant Sorry to say but would not recommend.

Good food but you ask for ribs and you get home and you have chicken and it might be one piece. The banana pudding is just pudding in a cup with cookies and maybe a few pieces of banana. They will over charge you if you don’t pay attention too your bill on the to go order this young lady used a hand register and charge a tip of her choice. CHECK YOUR MEAL BEFORE YOU LEAVE OR YOU MIGHT BE DISAPPOINTED.
