Came here to eat prior to the DL Hugely show at the Improv. OMG the food was AMAZING! The grilled oysters were DELICIOUS. That was my first time trying them grilled and they OVERSTOOD the assignment! I also had the whole catfish which was cooked to PERFECTION and flavorful! Our waiter was AWESOME and very attentive. The only downside is the cigarette smoke! I’m a former smoker but I never did like cigarette smoke around my food. Nonetheless, I cleaned my plate lol and have no problem coming back!

I just went to this place for the first time today. I was actually going for the food but the bartender gave me the impression that I had to buy a shot or two so that’s what I did. I didn’t have any intentions of buying any alcohol because I was on my way to work. The vibe I got from the bartender was somewhat racist. Anyhow, I ordered the meatloaf special and bought two shots, even though I had no intentions of doing so. The food was absolutely delicious!!!!! When I got to my car and was getting ready to pull off, the bartender came out and said that I had forgot to put an amount down for a tip and total. I didn’t leave a tip but I did put down thr total. The bartender stormed back in and seemed furious. This is what prompted me to leave this review. That’s bad business. I will never go back to Shuck and Jive Addison ever again thanks to the bartender who was there today at 3:45pm. He does not need to work the front, but instead work the dishwasher.

I visited Shuck and Jive on Beltline after assuming it was connected to the Coit Street location-but they’re not affiliated. The service was friendly, and the bartender made a solid drink, which ended up being the highlight of my visit. Unfortunately, the food didn’t measure up. The catfish bites were overly salty with little flavor beyond that, and the fries were soggy. I also tried the jalapeño chicken, which was decent but had barely any chicken in it. The food was terrible. I’m not sure if it was because we came late night or what but the Cajun pasta was dry and flavorless . The boiled shrimp that I asked for hot was cold , stinky, & just not good. We didn’t eat and I told the waitress it was terrible. She just handed me my ticket and left it at that. The reviews were so great but the experience was quite disappointing.

Stopped in here completely at random. Was staying in a nearby hotel and was looking for somewhere that was open late..
Ordered a poboy and a beer. Kicked back and just took in the atmosphere, wasnt really where I thought Id end up for the day but it was a decent experience. Food came out after not too long, and was pretty decent.

After 43 years as a loyal customer I thought it only appropriate to write a review! I’ve been coming back for the fabulous food & of course, the cocktails. I consider myself a quasi catfish connoissuer. I get the whole catfish which is cooked (fried) to perfection! It’s plump, flavorful and HUGE! After 43 years, it still tasted the same. Honorable mention to the gumbo, fried shrimp, jambalaya, fries & the entire menu. Shout out to Mark Cline, Owner, since birth in 1981 or 82. His consistency is remarkable. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention MEMPHIS, an authentic club that offers live bands, mostly from Memphis. I will say that I put my time in back in the day – too much fun! If you go to Shuck-n-Jive or Memphis for the first time, you have saved yourself a lifetime of shopping for that perfect, home grown friendly type of place!
