Flavor explosion ! once ya eat here it will make sense how they have stayed open so long. Some of the best food wife and I have had. Staff are super friendly and very clean and good service. You have to make a reservation and I would go early before the awesome deserts are gone too!
Price is on point for the quality of food, the proportion, and level of service.

This place never disappoints. I’ve been here several times and think it’s one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. The food is always superb and very authentic. The desserts are out of this world good. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation now. You can thank me later.

What an experience!!!!! Love the quaint feeling old world style of this establishment! It was great speaking to the owner and matriarch of this family business while we dined.
The service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Atmosphere and Decor ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 (well executed presentation and plating was excellent. Portion size excellent. I felt the plates were a little pricy and needed a little extra to get a full 5 stars)
Overall Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
They had an impressive wine and beer list. Many will love this aspect of the experience and go over the top. My wife and I neither are drinkers but can appreciate the experience of those dining around us.
Lastly the desserts where visually spectacular! However they were very traditional European dessert fare …. Not very sweet but over all they were tasty.
Overall we would give these folks and their restaurant 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. It’s a great experience and was very enjoyable!!!!!

can not say enough good things about this cute little place! Food and service was perfect. Highly recommend the schnitzel and DO NOT SKIP DESSERT!! We took 2 desserts home as we were too full to eat them there, and they were amazing. 10/10 will eat there again!

This is The first time I’ve had food at a German restaurant. Not only was the atmosphere fun, but also relaxing and nice for a date night for my fiancé and I… The staff was incredibly helpful in selecting our dishes and they were incredibly friendly as well. The food was so amazing! So good, that we actually ordered every dessert they had to go because we didn’t have room after dinner, haha. I will definitely be going back— Also, The prices are beyond reasonable. I highly recommend!

When I visited they had no tables available, but I decided to wait. So by starters please reserve or come in early (maybe late they might have some tables). IT IS WORTH IT! I personally waited because I truly wanted a German experience… The staff is all dressed up so you feel in Oktoberfest even in a different season. I had my personal allergy request and they gladly even asked at the kitchen to ensure everything was fine, my personal requests were not only attended, but expectations were surpassed by these guys. I wouldn’t be able to tell you that this is a true German place because I’m not German, but they do live up to expectations (and more) and the super friendly owner know a thing or two about Germans (she is one so this is supposed to be a joke). The place, the food, the staff, everything is amazing, do do yourself a favor and come have some bratwurst! Thank you all!

Great experience. The decor is well done, serving sizes are large. Reservations are recommend, they are having a staffing shortage due to COVID. We had some German beers and a great time .

The atmosphere was very nice. The food was great but my stroganof was not hot when it got to the table, very tasty but not hot. We ordered that and a chicken dish and stuffed cabbage! The service was good as well! Make reservations! They are very busy.

Truly a 5 star restaurant. Where do I even start. Make sure you reserve yourself a Napoleon. Even if you are not a dessert person you will need to experience it. The German food here is quite possibly the best I’ve had. If not the best it’s definitely runner up. What a gem for the Louisville area.

As expected we had a wonderful experience at our favorite German Restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky. The besitzer and family do an incredible job of preparing pastries and tables for a wonderful dining experience. If you want a tasteof Germany and some of the best pastries in town then Gastehaus will not disappoint. The beers are served in the preferred and correct vessels depending on type of beer and at the correct temperature. The portion sizes are reasonable and just enough for my personal taste and hunger needs. The coffee is fresh and very tasty. Highlight for most will probably be the from scratch pastries. My all time favorite is the strawberry Napoleon, the schwarzwald cake doesn’t disappoint, Chocolate Irish cream equally as delicious and lemon roll was really good. The decor is very nice a quaint like that of a small Bavarian restaurant. The staff dresses in traditional trachten mōde and the glassware for wine and spirits are European style. For an American that lived in Germany for years the Gastehaus brings us back to the Bavarian, German feel, taste, sounds of life.
