Thai Food Restaurant started a unique trend of Thai food and the first vegetarian cuisine in the San Diego area. The location was perfect and the locals embraced the hip and trendy restaurant. To this day, the restaurant still remains among the most popular, despite the fact that a number of other Thai spots have opened up nearby.

During my road trip through this town, I was craving Thai food, and since this was the only Thai restaurant in town, I didn’t have much choice. Honestly, I didn’t have high expectations—I just hoped the food wouldn’t be disappointing. However, it pleasantly surprised me! The dishes were delicious and on average, leaving me very satisfied. If I visit this town again, I’ll definitely return for another meal.

For my first time ever eating here, I was impressed. The food can be spicy but they have different levels of spice and it tastes incredible.
I was unsure as I came into the restaurant seeing it empty but I’m glad to say it was better than I expected. The atmosphere feels a bit awkward with it being quiet.

Based on a recommendation from a friend I gave this place a try today and found the food to be quite delicious! Although for a bowl of red curry rice and Thai dumplings it turned out to be quite expensive. Service was lackluster and the restaurant is very simple, nothing fancy but clean.

Very disappointed. I looked it up on Google Maps, and they didn’t have two of the dishes on the menu. I had to change what I wanted to eat. It’s simple: spring rolls; you have to order them a day in advance. The food is good, but the chicken with cashews only had cashews and vegetables, not chicken. I asked the lady why they didn’t charge more for adding chicken, since it was really just two pieces of chicken. I also order some dumplings and wet i get on my car that was missing i cane back she say is almost done

Where to start!?! Chao Praya is an amazing restaurant! We started with some crab rangoons with home made sause and these were the best tasting best looking ones we have ever had. We almost thought about just getting a few orders for dinner. I’m glad we didnt though because the spicy fried rice and the yellow curry lived up to the same expectation as the the crab rangoons. I recommend this place to everyone!

Quite literally the best thai food I’ve ever had in my life. I went like 5 years ago and then went back 2 years later. I haven’t had it in 3 years and I still think about this place. Every single one of my friends knows abt this place because of how much I talk about it. If you’re going, get the black pepper chicken (or whatever it’s called) and drunken noodles. Cured me when I was hungover. I will return one day trust

Small hole in the wall restaurant but the food is fantastic. The yellow curry and the mango Paradise are the best I have had. The crab rangoons we’re okay, score 4/5, could have had more crab flavor. Worth the 1 1/2 hour drive, will be back.
Returned 3 days later, Arigato, Pad Thai and Pad Kua Kai are also very good. Love the peanut sauce.

I’ve dined at this restaurant before and always enjoyed the food, which makes this review even more disappointing. Their website clearly states they are open until 8:30 PM, so I arrived at 7:00 PM expecting to have dinner. Instead, I was told they were closed for the night. No explanation, no apology — just “we’re closed.”
It’s extremely frustrating to plan a visit based on the posted hours only to be turned away more than an hour before closing time. Accurate hours are important, especially for customers who make the effort to come in. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression, and I won’t be returning.

Huge miss. The immediate red flag I should have noticed was the sign up front that provides an excuse for the sub par service you’re about to receive. Small businesses can still be run efficiently and effectively, find your weak spots and improve don’t just accept it and continue. On the night we went they had two servers, someone clearing and cleaning tables and they let us know they had two cooks. The service was unbelievably slow and chaotic at the same time. It was busy, as most all restaurants are on any special occasions so we expected a little wait. Luckily we only waited about 1.5 hrs for our food other customers around us were not as lucky. When confronted about this the waitstaff blamed togo orders!!! Its very common place for restaurants to no take togo orders when they are busy, I highly recommend this one do the same since they clearly cant handle anything more than the 20 or less table tops in house. Id love to say the food was so good it made up for the bad service and long wait, sadly it was just ok.
