Wife and I came in to give it a whirl a couple years ago. At that time we lived in Westfort so it was quite a drive sometime in the early afternoon.
The place was empty and quiet. The person at the till took our order said it would be a few minutes and we can grab our can of pop from the fridge. The price was a bit of a shock but we were already in too deep at this point having driven so far.
We looked for a place to sit down, which was difficult. There were fries on the floor, tables were greasy and had crumbs and salt on them. Had to get a napkin to wipe down the least dirty table we sat at.
Waited close to 25 minutes, which is quite long for 2 burgers and fries. When we got them, the buns looked like something you’d get in those plastic see through bins at a grocery store deli that sell for 20 cents. I would consider myself a decent cook, not a professional; but the “smash burger” showed 0 evidence of maillard reaction which is the whole point of a smash burger. The fries that arrived in a bag just bled oil everywhere and were very soggy and overly salty.
Would strongly not recommend, perhaps it was a combination of several things, driving so far, the price, food being bad and the restaurant being dirty that cumulatively amount to the worst “dining” experience in my 5 years of living in Thunder Bay.

Never judge a book by its cover, because this was an amazing Thunder Bay burger joint. Several people highly recommended it, and I’m glad we went. It’s definitely a must-try, and I’ll definitely be back.
However, there were a few minor things to note. The service was a bit slow, which made sense because when the food was ready, it was exceptional. There were a lot of takeout deliveries, which probably contributed to the slow service.

The man at the register today was incredibly kind. Poutine with brisket was excellent. I also appreciated the burger bowl option! Loved all the extra shredded lettuce.
I wish they had non-plastic flatware options for those who dine in to lessen environmental impact, but I get it if it’s typically a take out place. I appreciate that the other containers weren’t styrofoam.

Passing through Thunder Bay, I found the place through trip advisor. I got jalepeno cheddar burger. It was so good and only $10. On my way back through, I stopped again and got the swiss mushroom. Also excellent. Will have to stop here every time I come through Thunder bay now.

Although I order from there often for the burgers (which are a fantastic, tasty, beautiful mess)….Derek and his team came through on semi-short notice to assist with a catering event and totally knocked it out of the park. The food was fresh, tasty, and full of variety. Kudos Beefcakes!!

Excellent burger 2 years ago. Not sure what has happened to beefcakes. It was my go to place. From terrible fries to soggy gross buns. Lettuce that tastes like fridge or something else gross. The 23 min wait to get my Novemburger and the worst fries yet from the original location. Thinking my bad experiences from Brown st were some kinks in staffing now show me its the whole business. I can say I wouldn’t reccomend this burger place anymore.
