We got food delivered from here and ordered on the phone. The staff were very helpful and guided us to navigate the menu well. We ordered fish, chicken and shrimp tacos. Each taco set comes with 3 tacos with corn tortillas, and also rice, beans and another item (very tasty). The shrimp taco were a bit off putting due to the melted cheese on it, which might be personal preference. The fish taco was very good and chicken taco was good. Overall, okay tacos for me.

La Puerta is a neighborhood gem perfect for any time of day. We dropped in for lunch Friday afternoon and how perfect it was! Service was fast despite a busy lunch crowd (although they seem busy all times of day). Highly recommend the signature street tacos, mix and match three. They’re true to the street taco vibe – simple, packed, and delicious. Had the carnitas (as expected), ranchero shrimp (good flavor and volume of shrimp), and the pollo asado (true winner here. I don’t order chicken out and these were exceptional). Awesome too is that the tacos come with refried beans, rice (ours was a little dry), and raja con crema (if you haven’t had it, you’re going to love it. Poblano peppers, onions and corn sautéed in sour cream.. amazingggg). On top of the tacos, we ordered a side of fries. There’s a whole section of the menu dedicated to loaded fries so we wanted to try the fries in their natural form. Perfectly cooked- crispy but meaty, just the right amount of crunch. All in all, fantastic meal. Would recommend and come back!

Saw an insane amount of reviews here plus walking by, this place is always busy. Also huge portions here as well! We started off ordering a large Cantina Chopped salad which probably should have been a small or medium. This had romaine lettuce, cabbage, corn, cucumber, tomato, carrot, panela & cotija cheese, cilantro lime dressing, chipotle crema, tortilla strips, avocado, serrano-lime vinaigrette. Then I ordered the Viva Mexico Tacos Especial which is 3 Tacos served with Refried Beans, rice, rajas con crema, cotija cheese and limes. As for the Tacos it came with Arrachera steak, melted jack cheese, grilled onion and poblano, avocado, panela cheese, crema. The Panela cheese was an absolute game changer. My partner got the Surf and Turf Burrito (Arranchera steak, shrimp, ranchero sauce, grilled onion and poblano, jack cheese, guacamole, chipotle crema). The food was amazing, I see why there is such good reviews for this restaurant. We also had room for dessert so we got the Churros which were stacked log cabin style and it came with some ice cream and dulce de leche. Amazing dessert. Overall service was insanely good too, always someone to refill water, food came out quick, any requests were taken fast! Definitely recommend!

First time at La Puerta and I was impressed. The food was full of bold flavor and perfectly prepared, and the service was friendly and on point. The nighttime theme inside, paired with the creative artwork on the walls, creates a relaxing yet lively atmosphere that really sets the mood. Great vibes, great drinks, and a spot I’ll definitely be back to.

I can see why it was voted top 10 taco restaurants in the United States!!! phenomenal food! I ordered the pollo fries and replace the fries with chips to make nachos! It was absolutely delicious and my fiancé ordered the viva tacos. He enjoyed it.

Was in town for the weekend with a friend decided to get some dinner found this place on google had a high rating. The wait time was about 30mins. It was a Saturday night. I ordered the bowl of posole , was delicious. The chips and salsa were also good. The drinks were very yummy. Our waiter was very nice and friendly and let me tell you the playlist was 10/10. Enjoyed the atmostphere and our visit. Satisfied customer.

On my own while in San Diego for business. Well worth the wait just to get a seat at the bar—tacos were amazing, loved the sides especially the veggies with crema sauce. Lowrider was great & bar staff was both attentive and working hard to make drinks well despite the breakneck speed due to it the crowd. I’m not sure I’d come here with a larger group if you’re not willing to wait, but for solo diner it hit the spot! I highly recommend the carnitas street tacos!

I had heard of so many great reviews of this place. I had a flavored margarita. It was very small in a regular glass and I couldn’t taste any alcohol in it. The vibe was cool and lots to view on the walls with the mugshots of stars and more. I truly hope I just visited on an off day, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to others.

We just landed in San Diego and we were hungry. So we look for a place closer to the hotel and we saw the reviews for this place and decided to try it out. Locked in the hostess was very friendly sat us down. The waiter came up with water, which was perfect cause we were dying of thirst at that point and he told us that we had just walked into the happy hour. All the drinks, no matter what was on the menu or half off which I ordered a Mezcal and pineapple concoction Amazing I had two of them. Then we ordered some potato flutes and shared that together with a side of the hottest sauce I have ever had. And I like hot and this hit me hard, but love every single deposit. My husband ordered the sampler tacos, the pork, the shrimp, and the chicken and he enjoyed all three of them, but like the pork the most. I ordered the chopped salad with the chicken because I’ve had a Serrano vinaigrette, which was mouthwatering. Definitely definitely try this place out. The atmosphere was chill, relaxing. The car is awesome.
