But all the foods were fresh and salmon sushi was tasty! And price was great too. You can order more from the menu. Try ribeye with medium and rightly salted. I would like to go back.
Drive an extra 15 minutes and go to Gohan in Pleasant Hill, trust me. (I don’t even like Gohan that much)
Mikado used to be my favorite asian buffet (& that’s saying something, as that’s my favorite cuisine). I went when it first opened around June/July 2025, and now (Feb 2026) it has gotten so much worse. I’d be surprised if this place lasted until the end of this year!
I’m only giving it 2 stars because it used to be my favorite place. Realistically, it deserves -1 star.
Facts:
– AYCE is not AYCE. They limit you.
– 1 cluster of crab legs per person limit
– $20 for “regular” buffet & $30 for premium. Premium includes oysters, crab legs, most sushi, & really anything else people like. All must be ordered through the waiter
– the waiter didn’t ever pick up a single plate the entire time my wife & i were there
– the waiter also disappears for 15 minutes at a time (we’re guessing on purpose, so you can’t order more. We were there for dinner and there was only 1 guy)
– most sushi has to be ordered, & it takes forever to come out. We only ordered 1 round, and it was literally just 2 pieces. It didn’t come out until we were almost done and full from the buffet, at which point there was no point in ordering more
– they didn’t have any cocktail sauce (which is a small detail but what asian buffet doesn’t? That’s like McD’s not having ketchup?)
– $70 for 2 people for a mid-range buffet
– drinks in picture no longer included
I’m highly disappointed and would not recommend anyone to come here.
For reference, here is my initial 5-star review when they first opened in mid-2025:

Oysters were MASSIVE & among the best ive ever had, genuinely. I 100% made back the $30/person (dinner/weekends) in oysters alone, at an average of $3/oyster.
This place is definitely worth checking out! It is much smaller than we expected, smaller than most asian buffets, but the food was very good. Comparing to big places like Gohan in Pleasent Hill, it was MUCH better! And for a fraction of the price (Gohan was $50/person if i remember correctly). The drinks (nonalcoholic) are included and actually good (as opposed to Gohan, where all the drinks were nasty), & brownie points for having soy bean milk, as no one ever has it! The Walovi was good too, ive never had it before but it tastes like wintermelon tea. The sushi was good (Gohan’s was trash). I do have to say, as a “Japanese buffet” it was really no different than any other chinese buffet lol (which is not a good or a bad thing, just pointing this out). Crab legs were surprisingly good! Staff is very friendly, & most actually knows English
To note, there were plenty of spots with shade if you come for lunch. Also 15% off for their grand opening special (need to give them the code in the picture)! Not sure how long it lasts but today is July 20, 2025. Tbh i think a more fair price would be $23 (dinner/weekends).
The food that was left was scrumptious though, best sushi and crawfish I’ve ever had at a buffet, but it sucks that there was barely any left. I know they’re gonna use food waste as an excuse for the lack of restocking, but 2 hours before closing is crazy, it felt like we were begging for scraps at a BUFFET. It was the most awkward buffet experience by far as well in every way possible. I knew it was a bad sign when it was empty (of course literally some people there like 2 other parties).
Refills didn’t start until we were almost done eating, which was frustrating for a dinner visit. Given our past positive experiences, we were expecting the same level of freshness and selection.
This place clearly can do better, but consistency—especially during dinner hours—needs improvement.
The quality of the sushi and other dishes was above average compared with other similar buffets. I really liked how they frequently refilled the sushi which kept it fresh.
One of my favorite dishes was the Korean Beef Ribs. Tastety and savory.
While the food was good, the service was not the best.
The sushi at the bar was dry and hard, and most of the time we had nothing to eat. The servers never cleared any empty plates on their own, and the service was extremely unprofessional. Even after we complained to the manager, nothing improved.
Our total bill for 3 people was $95 including tax. I paid $115 in cash, which clearly is more than enough (definitely over 20% tip), yet the overall dining experience was terrible. If the restaurant is so afraid of customers actually eating, why offer “all you can eat” in the first place?
This location used to be a seafood boil restaurant and went out of business in about half a year. With the current owner running an “all you can eat” place with such stinginess, aren’t they worried about closing down again?
Visited again today and it got worse. It’s a standard “Buffett” now. Average items. Nothing more than a generic Chinese buffet that has hibachi entrees. Sushi selection limited. Hot items lukewarm warm. I have to remove points for food and service on this visit. Average at best. Revolving sushi down the street smokes this place.
Previous review:
Not bad. I wouldn’t say it’s GREAT, but it’s decent. Wish there were a little more hot items to supplement the sushi.
