Bland. Very disappointing flavours. We were a party of 5, no one could taste any difference between the pork and the beef. Chip portions are big, each portion of chips is a large McDonald’s portion x3. Not for me, but I can see the appeal.

I come here every week and the food is always great. Usually the staff are smiling and very welcoming, which really adds to the experience. However, on this visit the customer service wasn’t as good as it normally is. It seemed like there may have been a change of staff, as I didn’t recognise who was working and also a lovely man in the carpark! Keep up the good work very nice and helpful Some of the tables were also dirty when I arrived, which isn’t usually the case. Hopefully just a one-off, as this place is normally excellent.
but I have to say food is always excellent so definitely recommend compared to some others.

Was expecting better to be honest after all the hype from social media. Corn bread lacked flavour and was sooo dry it was inedible, it felt like 2 week old cake. The short rib… no idea what happened to the short rib… bits of it were so hard and tough, I thought at one point it must have been deep fried, it wasnt tender and juicy as I expected. BBQ sauce on the rib was tasty but as a whole not worth it for 25 quid.
The smash burger was actually delicious, very flavourful and the best bit of our dinner. There’s a mountain of chips served with each meal.
Staff were pleasant and venue was clean.

Honestly the best food in NI, the short rib worth every penny.. the Mac n cheese (mac n pepper sauce) was a show stopper, Tom owner/founder/dream maker ! Was checking on people personally and had time for a chat with all, a genuine worth the travel trip no matter where you are in Ireland

Really disappointed with this!! There was 4 of us and two infants. I’d been waiting to go here for a long time n when my daughter wanted to go here for her birthday I knew I was finally going to get here. We had 4 meals, short rib, mixed grill, chicken fries and a smash burger. £92 for all including drinks. Rib and chicken was lovely and lots of flavour, the smash burger was quite bland with just meat, sauce and onions in a bap. But the least value and least flavoursome was the mixed grill. For £30 it was such a let down. There was no flavour, the sausage was cheap sausages, the steak was wafer thin, the pork was dry and not nice but the biggest shock was the chicken leg, it was like it was deep fried. This came with a pepper sauce and chips (not real chips) .. all in all I doubt I’d be back to be honest. It just felt like such a let down after waiting so long to get heee!

Really enjoyed my experience with family, a real lunchtime treat,ordered a smashed burger without bap as I can’t eat bread, etc. Was a large portion size, but it was lovely. I member of staff came down to were we were seated and refunded me £2 as I didn’t get the bap was well impressed with this as normally when I ordered burgers in other places I don’t get a reduction in price. very helpful and friendly, and we weren’t rushed when ordering food or while seated eating our food, although it was very busy. We will definitely return and I would really recommend that you pay a visit

Personally really enjoyed this place went for a family day out and it was brilliant seems like a lovely wee family place. Was nice to try something different. Wasn’t a fan of the guy taking the orders, he seemed irritated and fed up when taking ours which put a dampener on the excitement. Which is not really acceptable considering we are paying for the service. Only issue with the food was that when it came out it was cold! Fries cold. All was delicious but too big massive amounts of chips just going in the bin because it’s too big portions. Food all delicious though. We ran down from Lisburn to try it. Wouldn’t say we’d be rushing back every weekend but it’s worth a try!

We visited a friend in Portadown and since we are around the area, we thought of trying this BBQ place. Learned about them on TikTok.
Food portions are gigantic. But meat lacks juiciness. The cornbread is dry and lacks taste. I hope they can do some improvement on the above. I can commend though on their dirty fries.
Staffs are friendly and accommodating.
Enough parking space.
But I don’t think would go back just for the food.
Meat and Mo’s brisket / back ribs at Springfield would be nicer in terms of meat.

Wow! Easily the best food I’ve had in NI! The ribs were absolutely incredible. The meat fell off the bone and were cooked to perfection. I’d definitely recommend the ribs! The burnt end beans were also very impressive. We loved the brisket but did prefer the ribs! 10/10. Highly, highly recommend!

If you’re planning on visiting Holy Smokes, I have two pieces of advice for you;
1. Be hungry! Be very hungry!
2. Bring wet wipes!
The reviews are right, folks. The portion sizes served here are something reminiscent of a “Man Vs Food” challenge. And they don’t forfeit quality for that quantity either. When I say all the food we tried here was gorgeous, I am not exaggerating. I personally had the brisket, and I will absolutely be back for more of it. The meat simply falls apart, and the barbecue sauce is gorgeous. The burnt end baked beans that came with were nice and the cornbread was good to scoop them up with. The rest of the food that I sampled (ie: stole off my family’s plates) was just as impressive, particularly the pork ribs with the pineapple sauce, and the loaded chicken fries.
The service was overall positive, but I agree with other reviewers that the staff seem a little disgruntled when taking orders and handing out food, earning a 4 stars for service. I say this fully understanding that the queue never stopped, and that no-one enjoys endless work, so I hope that these folks get a well-earned break for their hard work! The owner is also very friendly to the customers, and made the effort to ask how we found the food, as well as stopping to take photos with us. I’d love to see it expand into a proper restaurant building someday!
To sum this small essay up – tonight we are coming home with 4 boxes of leftovers, and I doubt they’ll see tomorrow, they’re that good! Make the drive, try Holy Smokes!
