I found Selena’s Salvadoran Restaurant at a farmers market by the U of A Med School and I’m so glad I stopped by. I got the vegan jackfruit tamales and they were so flavorful. Perfectly seasoned and really satisfying! The service was also great, super friendly and welcoming. Definitely looking forward to finding them again!

Last Sunday, we decided to drop by Selena’s for pupusas. We are already familiar with and enjoy Selena’s pupusas from the Rillito farmers market, and we have been meaning to try the restaurant.

When we got there, it looked full of people, and at first we thought there were no seats.

A lovely young woman directed us to a table and got us settled in. There was a large group of people next to us and other customers who kept the server quite busy, but she was amazingly attentive to the needs of everyone.

AND the pupusas were served warm and full of good stuff. We especially like the vegetarian ones.

We first had pupusas years ago in San Salvador and are so glad to find a place in Tucson where we can get good ones. We’ll for sure go back to Selena’s.

The best papusas I’ve ever had! I’ve had papusas before and they were dry but these were so cheesy and delicious. The rice and beans were perfectly seasoned too. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant.

This place is very okay. I like the decorations and the atmosphere. It’s very home-like. The pupusas are quite good. They came out very very hot so it took a minute to eat them but I like them fresh. The salsa was okay. Nothing special. The speciality is definitely the pupusa and tamale with beans.

Great food made by people who care! It’s nice to see a restaurant that’s doing its own thing — no carbon-copy menus here. The food is delicious and has the feel that it was cooked by a team who takes pride in what they’re serving. The tamales, arroz con pollo, tostones, and sweet plantains were all great, and I could eat pupusas every day of the week. All the items were well-packaged and had extra touches included, with sauces, slaw, and veggies. Quick delivery too. Looking forward to ordering from Selena’s again soon!

My office was looking for something out of our normal, pizza, tacos, or burgers lunch.

We ordered a variety of dishes so we could all try a little of each.

Holy crap! The plantains were amazing! The pupusas were fluffy and savory. And the pink sauce that came with the plantains made it to every portion of my meal, it was that good. I’m not sure what the beef was that came with the plantains, but it was so tender and flavorful.

10/10 would recommend! Selena’s will definitely be added to our rotation of Friday office lunches!

On the date of 10/24/2025 at 6:15 pm I received the most Rude Disrespectful cashier waitress. I have never had that kind of behavior at any restaurant that I have been to. If she is not happy doing her job don’t be there at all. Never will i take my family friends coworks or advise people I know to go eat there. Why the horrible customer service skills that is being provided. Remember I was a paying customer keeping your business afloat in this economy. 1 -10 A.Big 0

Absolutely incredible. Not only is the food perfect but the service is phenomenal. Everyone is incredible friendly. It’s a cute little restaurant near U of A. I ordered the ‘regular size’ pupusas, WOW! far from regular size. They’re huge and very well filled. Will order the large next time just to see how gigantic those are. You must try the tamales, the best I’ve ever had.
The window says “Best Pupusas in Tucson” but I honestly feel they’re easily the best in all of AZ. This place is an absolute must try!
