I visited El Charro’s for the first time and was immediately impressed by the cleanliness and beautiful, inviting atmosphere. The staff was extremely friendly, and the service was excellent from start to finish.
I went specifically for the quesabirria tacos, but unfortunately I didn’t get the full experience. When I got home, I realized the consommé was missing, and the meat itself in the and pork carnitas was a bit dry. I was really looking forward to a flavorful, juicy quesabirria taco.
Overall, the restaurant has great wonderful service and a lovely environment. I’ll still be on the hunt for that perfect birria taco, and I hope to give them another try some time in the future.

I’m from S Texas. This is my Mexican food restaurant. They get it. I had my roof replaced and fed the crew takeout made specifically to my order. The crew loved it!!!! Thanks also to Cola City Roofing for amazing roof replacement experience!!!! Alex and his crew are rock stars⭐️⭐️⭐️

Luis is such a great waiter. We come to this restaurant weekly with our family and have gotten all of our family to come here over the competition.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Irmo/Ballentine/Chapin area! Today Luis was our server, he was very attentive to all our needs. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. We enjoy going there for lunch or dinner, it gets 5 stars from us!!

The food, service and ambiance was absolutely phenomenal and first-class! This gem superseded my expectations. It was truly a “taste of Mexico” as the food was authentically prepared and not “chained” as other Mexican restaurants I previously experienced. It was so good the first night that I bought my friends back the very next day! KUDOS to everyone!!!!

First time here, our normal place was packed so we drove 20 mins closer to home, place was almost dead with a few customers on a Wednesday night, chips and salsa came, way too much cilantro in the salsa made it taste gross. I enjoyed my quesadillas but then realized they had american cheese which my stomach cant tolerate =/ hubby got fried chimichangas, according to him they werent good or even fried.. rice was decent, beans lacked flavor. Server was friendly but was barely around as i think he may have been in the back working. Odd dance music for a mexican restaurant lol…seats were ridiculously uncomfortable too

Best Mexican food in the area. Family owned and way better than the big chain up the street. If you’re looking for great authentic Mexican food this is the place. $2 Margaritas on Monday’s, and taco Tuesday on Tuesdays.

Stopped in UNannounced on a Sunday night with a group of 17…. service was great and gracious. All food came out together and was hot and delicious. Several adults enjoyed their drinks and a good time was had by all! Salsa was also VERY good.

They served us warm chips and one of the best salsas I’ve tried in the area so far. I ordered a beef chimichnaga with rice. The flavor was there. My only complaint was that the chimi only had beef. It would have been better if they added beans so it wouldn’t have been so dry. My sister ordered a shrimp coctel. We weren’t a fan of it. The presentation of the dish was beautiful. The staff was attentive. Overall, I’d give it another shot and order something different.
