Had a really great experience with our first visit to SPW’s today. The brisket burger was juicy & delicious, and the smoked chicken thighs were so, so good. Enjoyed the sides very much also. Jason & Heather are incredible hosts, and Angelique was a pleasure to dine with. Price point is really good considering the hefty portion size, our wait for food was minimal at 4pm. Highly recommended, family friendly, and most importantly… delicious. Thank you for bringing this wonderful establishment to Lorain.

Tried this new BBQ spot and left feeling pretty underwhelmed.
I started with the fried pickles, which were actually really good — I’d definitely recommend those. I also ordered the house BBQ smoked wings. They weren’t terrible, but honestly just okay, and not what I’d expect from a true BBQ restaurant.
For dinner, I had the ribs with mac & cheese and smashed potatoes. The sides were solid (both the mac and potatoes were tasty), but the ribs were disappointing — again, just okay. To be honest, I’ve had way better ribs at Mission BBQ, and that’s a chain.
We sat on the patio where a live band was playing. While I appreciate the idea, it was so loud we couldn’t even have a conversation. We actually heard several other tables complaining about the same thing, so it wasn’t just us. Having live music is nice, but the volume was over the top and really took away from the experience.
Overall, the food and atmosphere didn’t justify the price. It wasn’t terrible, but nothing that would make me want to come back anytime soon.

So good! Our food and service were outstanding. Portions are huge and we even have leftovers for later. We are so happy to have this Cleveland gem open a second location in Lorain. Check it out!

I so wanted to love this place. Bbq is one of my favorites and was looking forward to having something good close to home. Sadly, from the moment we walked it it wasn’t good vibes. We were greeted right away, and staff said please seat yourself and ill bring by menus. We sat outside for almost 15 minutes before we even got menus. Place looked like they took over the old Jackalopes , turned key without cleaning and opened shop. Outside windows, filthy. Outside tables, wobbly. Rugs indoors, needs a good shampoo or replacement. Our server was wearing short shorts and did not feel like a family friendly atmosphere. After she took our order we didnt see her back.ay our table for a long time . Kitchen staff brought out food. I didnt receive all my items and waiting approximately 15 to 20 minutes to come check how our food was. My wings were good. Meat sampler had pulled pork and brisket. Very dry and served with no sauce. This lakefront has great potential, but might need to get kitchen rescue in to get it up to par. Good luck. Oh and the outdoor heater leaks propane.

First visit here and it won’t be the last. We had a great experience – tasty BBQ, awesome service from Shondell and nice atmosphere. My wife and I split the 3 meats and 3 sides special. Fried pickles for an appetizer. Looking forward to enjoying some cocktails and food out on the patio next summer. Definitely give them a try. Love seeing new local places bringing something special to the community — best of luck as you grow!

We are new to the area and we were excited to try this place out! We have been there twice in one week! The brisket and pork were amazing! The smoked salmon was beyond yummy and the coleslaw is delicious! To top it off…the view and service are outstanding!
The live music last night was so fun too!
You can see the smokers going outside and the smell is amazing! You can also see many members of their team running around to make sure people have everything need. Support local! This place is a gem in Lorain!

Had a great experience yesterday. I had order brisket pulled pork and smoked wings everything was amazing. The Mac and cheese, greens and smash potatoes where delicious.. the server was nice and Polite.. would Definitely Recommend on going back again for more food.. only problem I ran into was it was raining yesterday and I started getting wet from the ceiling. I looked up and not sure if they know there’s a leak coming from the roof or not .. I will be back for more delicious food

These folks are putting out a great product, and the service and hospitality haven’t missed a beat since it was The Jackelope. My brisket melted in my mouth, entire meal was made with pride & care. The room has an unfair advantage to me over most restaurants (being a Son of the Great Lakes) as the view of Lake Erie and her skyline are special to me. You won’t be disappointed by the entire experience.

We started with great drinks ordering from a nautical themed menu at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and made great drinks. If you want a nice view of the lake, ask to be seated on the lake view balcony. You get a view of the boats in the marina and the lake too. The historic Lorain Harbor Lighthouse is in sight as well. Our meals were delicious. If you like smoked meats, you will enjoy dining here. They offer take out as well. The prices are reasonable. Heather and Jason, the owners make you feel welcomed like you are part of the family. Give it a try you won’t regret it.

Very disappointed. For $50 I got a brisket and turkey sandwich (they forgot the BBQ sauce on the turkey) Mac and cheese, and baked beans. The brisket tasted good but was fatty, the coleslaw tasted like perfume literally like there was perfume in it that’s the only way I can explain it, the beans tasted like they were Bush’s but some green peppers were thrown in, the fries were soggy, and the Mac and cheese wasn’t too bad. I had high expectations seeing as there were so many good reviews, but my experience did not match at all. Not sure if it was just a bad night or something, but definitely not what I expected unfortunately.
