One small suggestion: it would be nice if the hostesses and front desk staff at the entrance were a bit more welcoming. At times, it feels less like being greeted as a guest and more like interrupting someone, which slightly affects the first impression. A friendlier approach would make the experience even better.
Overall, the restaurant has definitely improved, and we’re happy to keep coming back.
The mansion is absolutely beautiful. The mosaic tile in the pool is colorful and unique. Lots of plants and greenery.
It’s very charming and beautifully decorated.
The lunch was good. I left the burrata salad and asked for some lemon vinaigrette on the side. It was a delicious lunch.
Know that they charged me a $7.50 service charge, so lunch ended up costing me more than expected. I guess this service charge is a thing in Miami Beach.
I went there for the experience and the atmosphere, and of course for the history.
The service was good.
I went around opening time when it wasn’t so busy. Nearly every table was filled by the time I left. It is a popular place.
The bread was absolutely delicious. So good. No butter, but I dipped it in olive oil with salt and pepper.
It was worth the experience.
Lunch was about $60/ person with fees and gratuity.
They brought us the complimentary bread, and honestly, it was terrible, chewy and almost impossible to eat. I’ve never left the bread untouched at any restaurant, but this one was just not good.
We ordered a Hugo Spritz, an Apple Spritz, and a mojito. They were fine, pretty simple drinks, just overloaded with mint to make them look fancier. When we asked our waiter for suggestions, he didn’t really know what to recommend. We got the fried calamari, and when we asked about the oysters, he didn’t even know what sauces they came with or what was in them. For a place that gets so many visitors, that was surprising.
For the mains, my parents ordered two chicken dishes and I got the ravioli. The ravioli were good, maybe an 8/10. The chicken was also good, just way too much food for three people. It would’ve helped if the waiter had mentioned the portions, because it ended up feeling wasteful.
Overall, the place is beautiful and definitely a “Miami moment,” but the service and food training need improvement — and they should really fix that bread.
And I should mention, the place is beautiful and the team is fantastic! All the waiters were so attentive and they brought us a decorated mille feuille cake for our friend’s birthday making our dinner even more special! Hope we get back soon to try more food and cocktails! ⭐️
Food quality was very poor.
We ordered mussels in tomato sauce, which is supposed to be a hot appetizer. They were served cold, and the so-called sauce was nothing more than mussels sitting in thick tomato paste — no balance, no flavor.
The eggplant parmigiana was completely bland and lacked any depth or seasoning.
The worst dish of the night was the branzino. It was cold, dry, and clearly overcooked — easily the worst branzino we have ever had.
Service was equally unacceptable.
Despite clearly telling the waitress not to bring all dishes at once, the starters and entrées arrived almost at the same time, with only a 3–4 minute gap between them. This ruined the pacing of the meal and showed a lack of care or attention.
The attitude of the staff was unwelcoming, and the overall service felt rushed and poorly managed.
On top of that, there is a mandatory service charge of nearly 25%, regardless of the quality of food or service. For an experience like this, I would not willingly pay a single penny in tip. A compulsory charge at this level feels completely unjustified.
Another uncomfortable detail: while we were at the bar waiting for our table, our credit card was held and not returned until we left the bar area, which felt inappropriate and unprofessional.
Conclusion:
I do not recommend this place for food or service. However, if your goal is simply to see the iconic Versace Mansion, make a reservation and have one drink only — nothing more.
