The restaurant is a pretty treat: a bright, tiled 42-seater, vibrantly upholstered and adorned with art collected from Dhruv and Trang’s travels back to her homeland in Vietnam. There’s even a cozy private dining room on the mezzanine, perfect for intimate gatherings.
The menu is splattered with suggestions for food that is fresh, healthy, balanced, and indeed every dish was bursting with the clean, bright flavours characteristic of true Vietnamese cuisine. Here are some standouts:
BBQ Pork Belly Bun Tron (Noodle Bowl): Succulent slices of pork belly, were caramelised and smoked, nestled on silky rice noodles tossed in a tangy-sweet fish sauce dressing. It offered garnishes of pickled carrots, crushed peanuts, crisp greens, crispy garlic.
Crispy Rice Paper Pizza: A clever Viet twist – this one is on rice paper seared till shatteringly crisp was topped with minced chicken and scallion,The flavours were a blend of smoky, spicy, and faintly sweet, layered over a delicate, wafer-thin base.
Banh Mi: The classic sandwich here is made with authentic house-baked baguette, yielding a crackly crust and airy crumb, stuffed generously.
I’m not drawn to desserts, but both the coconut sago pudding and the caramel flan hit the spot. The pudding cup was silky, laced with gentle coconut sweetness and soft chewy pearls, while the custard was impossibly jiggly and smooth, with a hint of bitter caramel rounding out the subtle sweetness. (which didn’t cloy like most! )
The staff is friendly and while there’s a wait for the food, the care and authenticity shine through in every plate. It’s well worth your patience.
I’m counting down the days till they open regularly for lunch.
This café is an absolute gem I’ll return to as often as possible!
The highlight was definitely the pork Bánh Mì, honestly the best I’ve ever had. It was so good I didn’t even let my wife take a picture before I finished it. The bread was perfectly crisp, the herbs were fresh, and every bite was bursting with flavor.
We also had the prawn summer rolls which were super fresh and paired beautifully with the peanut sauce and fish sauce. The pork belly with egg and jasmine rice, was rich, savory, and the ultimate comfort dish.
What I really appreciated is that these aren’t just commercial dishes thrown on a menu. They feel like heirloom recipes, crafted with care, which gives the whole place a boutique and exclusive feel.
The service was also excellent and attentive without being overbearing, friendly, and made the evening even more enjoyable.
I found out the place is run by husband and wife, Dhruv and Trang. Dhruv was the perfect host, welcoming and took the time to ask for feedback. Trang is an amazing chef and brings in a lot of the authentic, homestyle family recipes.
This place is a gem. Go for the Bánh Mì, trust me, you won’t want to share.
The Pork meat was grilled to perfection in the Bun Cha and the tofu was very well seasoned in the Bun Tron. The Tapioca and Coconut pudding was the cherry on the icing!
Highly recommend this place for Vietnamese food in Gurgaon.
Opened less than a week ago, Vietnamease is already my favorites place in Gurgaon serving authentic Vietmamese food. While it may seem that title is easy to bag, thanks to Vietnom’s food with their bánh mì being as Vietnamese as a Mumbai sandwich.
They currently operate 7-11PM and take prior reservations but were happy to accommodate a walk-in request.
Started by a couple (The head chef is Vietnamese herself) who have been doing this in a much smaller format for years now, I was saddened to know that something this good had escaped me for years.
Now I want to specify that the sole reason I walked in was to try a bánh mì. I last tried it almost a year ago in Vietnam and I have had wet dreams about it ever since. At times, they were so wet the bánh mi in my dreams did not even have any sauce in it.
But soon after we were left disappointed when they told us that they were out of that dish. I was sad. I was violent. I contemplated raising my voice to an octave that would finally make me seem like the Haryana man I was born to be. But I was with my partner so as a real man I kept that side to myself which I would eventually take out years later to scar my kids.
We ordered the Vietnamese Coconut coffee, Pork Pho, Banh Cuon, Chicken skewers and a drink whose name I am forgetting. We finished our meal with the chef special flan.
The Coconut coffee was good but the volume served to the ice ratio was skewed. Still one of the better coconut coffees I have tried in India.
The Pho was light, warm and the pork succulent. They got the flavours bang on. It is very lightly seasoned. It does pack a punch but the punch is as strong as me.
The chicken skewers were very good. They had a peanut butter sauce/thick dip with it which standalone was VERY TASTY but paired with the dish like Apple airpods pairing with an android phone. Given the sauce on the skewer was already sweet, the PB sauce doesn’t really add anything to elevate the dish.
Lastly we had the flan for dessert and before I tell you about the dish, I just want to point out a recurring pattern which I am amounting entirely to them just setting things up. Quite a lot of things were sold out. Given the fact that they took prior reservations for bookings and we came around 9PM, we understand that but for diners who are not as patient or understanding, it can leave a bad impression. Even we were told that thr Banh Cuon was unavailable 10-15mins after our order.
The flan we got was literally the last one available and we even overheard the lady at the table next to us be visibly upset about a lot of missing menu items as well as the dessert. We even contemplated giving up our dessert to her but then my partner said no and I realised that this is why I love her. No communism in this country so we ate the dessert and let me tell you, it was amazing. I am not that high on jelly like consistentcy desserts but damn that flan was good. We almost slurped the alpenliebe like sauce that it was drizzled with. We even asked the server if we could get the sauce in a big glass to slurp but he laughed and thought it was a joke. IT INDEED WAS NOT dear sir!
Anyway, all in all, I will be back for my Banh Mi and the place is a must try. It’s a little on the pricier end for me specially for the drinks but a start of the month salary splurge won’t leave you disappointed at all. I am sure the minor dish availability issues will be sorted in due time. It would be good if they specify the unavailability to people as soon as they are seated though as that lets a diner decide in advance rather than be disappointed later.
The staff is great though and were very polite. They ensured we had a comfortable dining experience. Kudos to them.
Truly the most authentic Vietnamese food experience I’ve had in India!
Vietnamese Caphe is a beautiful little gem run by chef Trang from Vietnam and her husband Dhruv, and you can taste the love and passion they pour into every dish. Their Bahn Mi is fresh and flavourful, the summer rolls are delicate and bursting with freshness, and the Pho is absolutely soul-warming — just like what you’d find in a family kitchen in Hanoi.
It’s rare to find a place where authenticity meets such warmth and hospitality — but this is it. The 10/10 service and the personal touch make the whole experience unforgettable. We had a private dining experience for a birthday and they booked us on their upper floor which is very private and exclusive and the space is designed with such class and elegance, had a fantastic time. Thanks Dhruv and Trang for taking such good care of us.
A must-visit if you love Vietnamese food (or even if you’ve never tried it before)! ❤️
