Fantastic sushi spot, do not let the unassuming building fool you. Husband and I both ordered the Omakase chef’s choice 10 piece nigiri and were blown away by the high quality and taste. Incredible value too. We ordered an additional Amami special roll to share which was also delicious. The restaurant had a nice lively atmosphere and was pretty full, so we were glad we reserved ahead even for a Sunday evening.

Got the Omakase Chef’s Choice, Chicken Katsu, Salmon Roll and Uni Roll, our mom used to come here and finally my 1st time ever and it was excellent , everyone was very attentive and helpful to us and their guests. We’ll be back.

This place is great: friendly, hard working, great ingredients, noisy with families and conversations. Portions are generous. I would be a regular if I weren’t passing through. The tempura was slightly heavy, but delicious.

Amami seems to be a chain with multiple locations in the bay area. So far I personally like Fremont the most for omakase. San Bruno location is good if you pick your own nigiris, the rolls are ok their raw fish is def the stand out items. In general I’d say Amami is one of the best spots for affordable omakase that’s actually good in the bay area, regardless of location

A hole in the wall sushi joint.
Lovely fish, mediocre service, local joint vibe, San Jose State v USD basketball on the big screen. If you want to hang out with friends and have really good sushi, this is your place. If you’re trying to impress a date probably not.
I enjoyed it.

We came on a Sunday night with reservation and it was super busy. It took a while for the waitress to take us to our table.
Parking might be hard to find since it’s street parking in el camino real and the service is a bit slow, but the sushi makes it all worth it.
I highly recommend the omakase! For $42 you’re getting 10 pieces of big pieces of nigiri. The fish was quite fresh and tasty, and I love the fact that they’re so much bigger than the rice. Their popular sushi rolls were also really good. We got the melted in the mouth and Romeo & Juliet rolls. The sauce and combination of ingredients worked really well. Tempura was also good, battered well and came out very crispy.
They were also kind enough to give us ice cream on the house, which was a nice surprise and a sweet ending to our meal.
My only complaint about the food is our grilled squid came out lukewarm. It was still tender but definitely didn’t taste as good as if it came out fresh and hot.

For less than $50, we were able to get a decent plate filled with sushi and sashimi. It was enough to feed two moderately hungry people and leave on a good note. The quality was actually really good. The service was too good so it felt a bit invasive, but overall REALLY GOOD.
Update: The lover’s boat is now $55 and is still a really great bargain!

Small local spot, friendly service, good food. Everything i ordered was delicious. Order the omakase and you’ll see the rice to fish ratio is unbelievable.

We ordered two Omakase aka ‘chefs special’. Each comes with a 10 piece sushi assortment of chefs choice (reasonably priced comparing to other sushi restaurants nearby). We also ordered the grilled whole squid as an appetizer. The squid is soft and tasty. Our Omakases didn’t dispoint, very fresh and rich in flavor and texture. The staff are nice and very approachable. I say check it out.

I’ve been going here ever since it opened and it’s truly a hidden gem that maintained its quality over the years.
Fresh fish with good prices and the omakase is a must.
It looks pretty unassuming from the outside and it doesn’t look fancy or anything but it’s a really great spot. It’s always busy.
