This was our first visit to Cracker Barrel (Mon May 26, 2025) and it was only a short Uber ride away from our hotel in Williamsburg, Virginia.
We initially didn’t know what to make of Cracker Barrel – it was strange to enter the gift store when we’d come for food – but having seen a few adverts on TV we had an idea of what we wanted to sample. We tried our best not to get our hopes up just in case the food wasn’t as good as it looked.
We ordered:
Campfire Beef = $16.99
Meatloaf plus Three Country Sides = $14.99
Diet Coke (refillable) = $3.49
Blue Moon (12oz can) = $4.79
State & Local Tax = $5.36
Total = $54.11
The theatrical Campfire Beef, cooked and served in thick foil to lock in the flavor, consisted of tender slow-braised beef with campfire seasoning, sweet corn on the cob, red skin potatoes, carrots, grape tomatoes and onions, was served with buttermilk biscuits. The portion size was generous and filling.
The meatloaf, made with a blend of beef, onions, bell peppers and tomatoes, came with three sides and we chose: mashed potatoes with white gravy, steamed broccoli and mac and cheese.
We were served hot biscuits with butter ahead of the food arriving. They smelled incredible and took us back to our childhood. The biscuits were ideal for mopping up the juices of the campfire beef dish.
We enjoyed our meals and didn’t want them to end….but we (unusually) had ordered a dessert! We sensibly shared the S’mores Brownie Skillet, another theatrical dish, and it is safe to say it was one of the best sweets we’ve ever had. It also doesn’t get any more American than s’mores!
Our server, Kiszanny, was polite and efficient and she told us she was new at Cracker Barrel having come from Jamaica on a youth scheme.
After our meals, we mooched around the Country Store section and were pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced the merchandise and goodies were. We settled on buying a wooden magnet for our collection ($7.99 + $.56 tax).
Cracker Barrel was founded in Tennessee in 1969 and is now an American institution with over 650 restaurants across the U.S. We are glad we got to enjoy their wares, and while we were greatly tempted to return the next night, decided not to, as we wanted to keep the memory out our perfect visit.
It took a long time to get the food and when we did receive it it was lukewarm at best.
I requested a coffee refill it took about 20 minutes I had to ask twice.
Best cracker barrel is a perfect example why cracker barrel is going downhill fast.
I do not recommend this cracker barrel can I have stopped at many traveling the East Coast.
The food was hot and cooked well. Wish the serving of broccoli was larger. The server was pleasant and kept our table well stocked.
The restaurant was clean. There is a nice amount of Parking in the back for RV/buses.
The absolute best service and food in a very busy/crowded restaurant—many Thanks to Kathy, who seated us, and Sa Quoara, who served us. We could not be happier with the warm and friendly hospitality. It is fantastic to see the entire Cracker Barrel team work together to provide excellent food and service, keeping everything moving. v/r, Dr. Ken and Lorna King
2017-08-02 Catfish, fresh apples and green beans were all good!
11 months prior, Breakfast was not good this morning, it was very busy (tourists, people visiting for Busch Gardens, etc?), lady waitress was very nice and accommodating. In the past, I had dinner here and I was disappointed.
