A great chill local spot that’s great for when you want a juicy burger, a classic sandwich, and a cold drink. Reliable and low key and where I go when I have a sandwich / burger craving that needs to be satisfied. The garlic fries are so crispy and amazing I’m drooling thinking about them.

Great little Irish pub in the heart of Portland, Maine and Monument Square. I visit Portland frequently and am glad I can always find someplace to check. Im a big fan of the atmosphere, especially easy-going Irish pubs. This is one in a busy location in Portland worth checking out. Great food and beverages were ordered and I was pleased with everything.

Our first stop after arriving to Portland from Boston. Friendly, welcoming service and delicious food. The nachos were hands down the best we’ve ever had out – the perfect crispyness and not soggy at all. I got a delicious salad and we also devoured the blue cheese burger. Highly recommend. Shays was also pretty busy for an off time on a Friday afternoon, which is a testament to the food as well as the service.

Shaw’s is a small place but with friendly service and good pub style food (only been once so can’t speak for other items on the menu but everything looked good). We had the Mediterranean Nachos, never had them before, we’re fans of Mediterranean, and they were great. Also nice that they offer a,half portion option. We would definitely go back.

The food was excellent. The service was great. The bathroom was extremely unbelievably small not so clean but you go there to eat not use the bathroom. Definitely not handicap accessible for the bathroom.

This has been our favorite burger bar since we’ve moved to Portland three years ago. The service is personable yet professional. The food is delicious and the drinks hit the spot and often have great new additions show up on their menu! They have daily drink specials and they actually remember their regulars. This place is like a modern day Cheers: “Where everybody knows your name”. Love this place

I have never had a complaint about Shays. Everything I have had is pretty good to great quality. I am not bouncing off the walls over one thing but they do a good job of what they have. Friendly and attentive enough service, nothing too extra which I appreciate. Last time I went in I sat at the bar and ordered a drink and an app and had a nice stop in the middle of shopping. I’d probably be a regular if I lived closer. Check them out!

Wow, looking for something different. Their Nashville chicken sandwich…perfect and the crispy fries!! Great drink menu and $5 martinis!! The staff is friendly and professional! Its a small space-but so worth it! Coop and his staff know what they’re is going!! We’ll be back!

This was our second visit to Shays and we were not disappointed! The food here had been delicious each time. During this visit, we got the special of the day and the fish and chips as our two entrees. The special of the day was a hand breaded chicken sandwich topped with a piece of fried mozzarella cheese and spicy marinara sauce and pesto sauce. Served on garlic bread. I upgraded to garlic fries for my side. It was all amazing and full of such flavor! The haddock on the fish and chips was flaky and thick in a nice batter. Our cocktails were ok. The staff were nice and mostly attentive.

This place is diner meets five bar in all the best ways. Great staff with ice cold beer and wine. Plus a super duper fantastic play list of ’90s grunge and metal. Also, they had them hockey game on, Rangers! In a Boston friendly city. My only complaint is the fries. Please stop with the spray on Petrochemical crispy fry. Join the Potato Fries Matter; PFM movement. Get you may not want to make your own but get better spuds. This sticks of chemicals you serve are a disgrace. #PFM. 😉
