2/10/25….I had the opportunity to make my return visit and I’m so happy we did. The food is consistently good, you leave full and it’s not expensive. Courtney, our server, was more than accommodating and oh so pleasant. Cracker Barrel is so fortunate to have her! We were limited on time, otherwise I would have spent more time in their attached gift store. Thank you, chefs at Cracker Barrel, food is so very good!
One recurring issue is the syrup bottles being placed directly on top of the pancakes, which is a serious quality concern due to cross-contamination. It’s unappetizing and unhygienic. On another visit, the dishes were clean, but on my most recent trip, the pancakes were clearly cooked on a greasy, unclean grill. They were soaked and had a strong pork or meat fat flavor—completely unacceptable, especially if the customer is vegetarian or vegan.
That said, my server, Marissa M., was excellent—very polite and attentive. I specifically asked her to make sure the syrup bottles weren’t placed on my food, and she made sure to communicate that to the kitchen. The silverware was clean and properly set as well.
Quality control in the kitchen needs to improve, especially for a dish as simple as pancakes. With the right attention, experiences like this can be avoided.

My family and I went back to Cracker Barrel after being invited by the general manager to hopefully have a better experience. The service was prompt and they had us seated quickly and were very attentive. We had our drinks quickly, our food quickly, and it was hot. We didn’t have to look for anything or ask for anything and the manager came out by the end to see how everything went. They were proactive with fixing the previous experience and had a great time. Definitely will go back as usual.
My wife, her parents, and I went to cracker barrel as we routinely do for Sunday dinner to enjoy a good meal but it didn’t turn out as planned. We had a small wait to be seated which was not a problem and we were seated for a reasonable amount of time. We sat down and begin to talk and about 5 to 10 minutes in we realized our server has not been to the table we tried to catch someone to ask them but he finally came out. He took our drink orders and we requested to make our food order at the same time, our server Benjamin took our orders but never came back from the back for at least another 15 minutes with our drink order and biscuits. He was spilling water everywhere from his carrying board but no one complained we just asked for plates, jelly, and napkins but once again he disappeared to the back for another extended period of time while our table was wet. He finally returned with napkins but no plates or jelly to eat, which we reminded him and he returned to the back for another 5 minutes. He finally came back with the plates but brought two grape jelly containers for the table, which we asked for a few more to have at least one for each person. Benjamin returned 5 minutes later to another table which we caught him and he gave them to us. We sat and waited and realized all of the servers were active but ours and the one or two other tables he had they also we waiting. We realized we have been waiting for food for about an hour and saw people that came in after us recieve their food or were finishing up to leave. I had to find someone to ask to get our server and after a few more minutes he came with our food. We asked for condiments, a knife, and a refill but he disappeared again. I ended up asking someone else for a knife and finding the condiments on another table. My father-in-law expressed that something was wrong with his meatloaf and his ham which we asked for someone to get our server, which he came out after about five minutes to say he will get the manager. John the manager came out maybe 10 minutes later after we almost finished our food and my father-in-law was waiting. We explained the situation to John which he didn’t seem concerned about how long we waited or the service. He also didn’t move urgently in reference to the issue with the meal which he mentioned about something else being ordered but by then we were over it and ready to go. We have been frequent customers on Sundays for years and it is often apart of our tradition but this has been the worst experience we have had there and is unacceptable.
Pros:
-Our server was absolutely wonderful. Fulfilling all of our needs when requested.
-The Fried Chicken!!!!!! Crispy. Juicy! Exceeded allll of my expectations!
-My mom LOVEDDDDD and still raves about the Pancakes!
Cons:
-Was definitely perplexed when we didn’t receive small plates for our starter biscuit basket.
-The printout menu. at least have it in color. B/w doesn’t do the pictures any justice. Or consider regular menus again.
-We ordered the sampler, my fiancé was not pleased. The portions really looked like scraps.
-Those turnip greens. Tasted straight out of a can. My mom sent those back.
Overall, we will definitely be back so the whole family can try those pancakes!!
Note:
-Best Half & Half iced tea and lemonade I’ve ever had
