Really good food. A local gem. The atmosphere is very casual. If you want to order food and alcohol you go in one line and if you just want food you stand in another line. If you just want to drink you can go directly inside and order alcohol at the bar. This feels like a local spot that got discovered and is now a hot commodity & a must see experience if you’re in New Orleans. You can take the cable car/trolley if you want that experience, too.

Parkway Bakery & Tavern is a true hidden gem and, in my opinion, they serve some of the best po’boys in the city. This iconic spot has been operating for over a century and is justly famous for its quality.
I went with their Surf and Turf po’boy, which is a fantastic combination of their signature slow-cooked roast beef and fried shrimp. The beef is like a perfectly slow-cooked roast and it was really good! This version is a great revamp of their award-winning classics.
A couple of crucial tips: Expect a ridiculously long line, but once you order, they make the food pretty fast, so don’t let the queue deter you. Also, please order everything on it—the toppings add so much flavor and complete the entire sandwich experience.
For an authentic, high-quality, and unforgettable po’boy, this is a must-try destination. I highly recommend the Surf and Turf.

Omgggggg Parkway Bakery A Tavern has the best tasting Po Boy omg. The bread was so soft and the toppings were so amazing together. I’m so glad a made the trip to the store. Service was quick and order out in no time. The restaurant was clean and had and old school mix with modern feel to it. I would totally be back for a couple sandwiches..

An absolute must-try when in New Orleans!!! The food was unbelievably delicious and 100% worth the cost! It’s a huge bang for your buck without sacrificing flavor or quality.
It gets pretty busy, so be prepared to wait, but they have an amazing system set up to park and order, so everything moves seamlessly.

Visited Parkway Bakery & Tavern while in New Orleans. The atmosphere was casual and unpretentious, exactly what you’d hope for from a historic New Orleans landmark that’s been around since 1911, and the service was friendly and efficient. There’s plenty of space to sit, with options for indoor dining, a covered overhang, and an outdoor patio, which makes it easy and comfortable no matter the crowd. Tried the Signature Fried Gulf Shrimp Po’ Boy — a must. The shrimp were perfectly battered, light, crisp, and incredibly fresh, piled generously onto bread that was light and crusty on the outside and dressed just right with mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. Portions were generous and well-stuffed. Overall, a great spot for locals and visitors alike, and absolutely worth a return visit. Saluti

Immaculate all the way around. Service was good. Food was unreal. I had the catfish po boy and potato salad with an unsweetened iced tea. Sampled the fried pickles, fried shrimp and fried oysters. Bread pudding too. Plenty of seating close to closing time. Vibe overall was relaxed and welcoming. Loved this place the most out of any of the stops in New Orleans. Highly recommend. A popular spot for a reason. Come!!!

Roll up your sleeves and grab lots of napkins. Highly recommended for native poboy experience. We ordered the Creole BBQ shrimp and Surf &Turf poboys. Pics show uou how the gravy made the poboy melt apart in your hands – as expected. Delish. Fries were good too.
Pro tip: there are two lines. The one on left always seemed to be shorter because it looks like just a bar, but you can order there too.

The food was okay, but the portion size was exceptional. I ordered a brisket po’ boy with shrimp — the brisket didn’t have much flavor, but my taste buds might be different since I’m from Texas. The jambalaya was meaty and good, and the potato salad was solid. Try it if you want, but I don’t care to return

My husband wanted a classic po boy and we took a 12 minute uber from downtown to Parkway. The driver said this was her favorite spot for po boys – thought it was a good sign we were going to the right place.
There was a bit of a line but it moved fairly quickly. My husband ordered the oyster po boy (small) and said it was fantastic. I was not sure if I could eat anything here because I’m gluten free, but ordered the capresse and chicken without the bread which was surprisingly good ( mozzarella fresh). The sandwiches are large – unless you’re really hungry suggest ordering a small. The coleslaw was also great!
Loved the retro interior with vintage photos and signs.
