Lao cuisine was not on my radar until a few years ago. I fell in love with it and then my favorite local Lao/Mien cart closed 🙁 So when Kelly Thai and Lao opened at the Chop Chop cart pod, I was pretty much ecstatic.
When 21SG Foodie Singapura was at the Gresham cart pod, I used to order their fried chicken wings. I think the wings here might be even better!
The menu hits all the right notes. Ingredients taste fresh and vibrant. Portions are generous, too! Nice assortment of appetizers — delicious egg rolls, crab rangoon, the wings… (did I mention the wings?)
My go-to dish is pad prik king (green beans with meat and bell peppers). Everyone’s favorite Thai dishes are available here, as well as an assortment of Lao specialties, with five degrees of spiciness. If you’re a fellow spicy food masochist, this place rules. I just tried the Nam Khao (5 spicy!) and will absolutely be ordering it again.
I keep meaning to try more of the menu, but it’s hard to get away from the dishes I already know I love here.
Kelly and the older gentleman that run this cart are lovely, positive people. I’m really happy this cart opened up. Chop Chop is a really nice cart pod! Totally worth braving the Powell / 174th construction mess.

We had their red curry with beef; pad Thai with shrimp; and fried rice with crab. The food was legit and soo good. They offer different ‘spicy levels’ and we decided on extra spicy- the spice was perfect, it didn’t overpower the flavor, but it was definitely fire. Delicious. They gave large portions, and needless to say, we had to take a walk afterwards to stave off the fat-dog syndrome 🙂 The lady at the window was so nice, pleasant and cheerful. Definitely had leftovers, but looking forward to going back and trying more of their offerings.
