At Coles, we’re dedicated to bringing the art of dining to every experience.
Think local meats cured in-house. Crisp vegetables fresh off the vine, pickled onsite. Breads baked fresh each day. The best seasonal ingredients available, sourced from local farms and trusted purveyors. And our menus go beyond the plate, with handcrafted cocktails featuring unique, house-made ingredients, hundreds of bourbons available for tasting, and an award-winning carefully curated wine program.
We believe in honoring history and chose to set our restaurant in a restored historic landmark in downtown Lexington.
Eclectic, locally sourced New American cuisine served in a circa-1938 restaurant space.

Had an amazing time at the bar with John! He’s incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and truly a wonderful bartender. The atmosphere is so cozy, and you’re greeted with warm, welcoming smiles the moment you walk in.
My brother was in from out of town, and I just had to take him to this gem — it never disappoints!
The food is packed with rich, delicious layers of flavor. I highly recommend the salmon entrée and the glazed shrimp appetizer — both were absolutely outstanding!
All around, this place is a true Lexington staple and a must-visit any day of the week.

Great meal at Coles 735 Main, cozy vibe, attentive service, and cocktails that hit the mark. My entrée was cooked perfectly, though the seasoning leaned a touch salty and the wait between courses ran a bit long. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality mostly justifies it. Overall, a strong 4/5 and a spot I’d happily return to for a nice night out.

Absolutely fantastic. The Cajun honey shrimp and pork flautas were delicious. The beef shoulder tender was cooked perfectly, and the crab hollandaise and mashed potatoes perfectly complimented its flavor. The desserts really took the experience to another level, making the meal well worth the price.

My girlfriend and I dined at Coles 735 Main on Friday, 7/18/2025 around 5:30 PM and we stayed for 3 hours enjoying everything this 5-star restaurant had to offer. We started with the brie appetizer (awesome with the great bread “sticks”), we both had filets with mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. We finished with butterscotch cookies al a mode. My girlfriend had cocktails, which she loved, but I stayed with bourbon neat! Our server was Kenzie T and she could not have been better. Our water glasses stayed full and she came around just the right amount of time; she made great recommendations!!! The night could not have been better; we sat outside and the rain on the tent (no wind) added to great ambience!! Can’t wait to go back and have the scallops!!!

The spanakopita was delicious. My fish had a very mild flavor and didn’t really taste like fish. Strong drinks & sweet server. Fun to try but don’t think I’ll be back since the quality just wasn’t worth the price.

The service was the absolute highlight of our evening. Our server, Kenzie, was fantastic also thank you for your service to our Country Kenzie. Their attentiveness extended far beyond the table: I accidentally left my credit card, and they called me within ten minutes to let me know. This level of care is outstanding.
The Menu Review
• Duck Confit: Delicious and executed very well.
• Scottish Salmon Entrée: My girlfriend loved this dish, served perfectly with couscous.
• Sides: The Brussels sprouts were a nice addition.
• Bread: The bread and rolls were good, although they seemed to be slightly over-baked this evening.
• Cocktails: Well-made and good overall.
Final Assessment
While the food was good, we felt the value for the price point was just good, not great.

Was excited to finally try this restaurant as it has been on my list for a while. Lobster bisque was great. Pork flautas a bit smaller than expected. I was most excited for the duck which was good. I wish there was music playing as the restaurant was almost empty and with the few tables seated we could hear each other’s conversations easily. Our server was knowledgeable about the specials and dishes served which was very helpful. The check was given the same time the dessert arrived to the table and we saw more of the server during that time than the whole service. That made the experience feel rushed and a bit uncomfortable.

I really enjoy Coles for both the atmosphere and the food. It’s a small quaint restaurant with great service. Our server made great recommendations and when she took a little longer to take our drink menus, she gave us complementary bread.
We started with the jalapeño hoecakes ($16). They were good, but the whole cakes were a little dry to me. We split the New York strip ($58) with brussels sprouts and macaroni and cheese ($10) as the sides. The steak was juicy with lots of flavor. Of course, we had to get the chocolate chip cookies to go! They have the best cookies and straight out of the oven.

We enjoyed the food very much. We ordered Tempura shrimp for the starter which was great. We also ordered Duck confit which was delicious and juicy enough served with crispy potato.
Beef shoulder tender was great as well.
In general, we really enjoyed every items that we ordered.
The only point that could be improved is to have one person serving all the courses which also could be friendlier.

Can’t believe this gem has been open for 13 years and we just now graced their doorstep! We had whipped feta as our appetizer, the baked fish feature x2, chocolate chip cookies and cremè brulee. Nothing disappointed. I feel awful that I’ve forgotten our servers name but everything she recommended was fantastic. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner experience. We hope to be back and definitely plan to visit Black Squirrel in Versailles as suggested.
