Server was polite but when I looked at my bank account, a few extra dollars were added compared to what I wrote and took a picture of on the receipt…interesting. The mashed potatoes looked like they came out of a plastic sandwich bag. Despite my server saying that the kitchen was slow, the food didn’t take that long. Due to what I wrote on the receipt and what I was charged, I will not be going back to this location.

We dropped by around noon on a weekday. As soon as we walked in, a waiter came up and greeted us. We could make a choice to sit either at the bar or at a booth. They had a ranged selection of pasta, burgers, steaks, seafood, and more. And the price was very reasonable. It was a bit challenging to grab the server’s attention, but whenever we could, the service was nice and pleasant.

New Ulm is not a big town and does offer options for a foodie destination but is not what the likes of living in the Bay Area California has to offer. With that said, my foodie sister who has visited New Ulm frequently insisted that we have a sitting at the Applebee’s here. As this is a nationwide chain, it is a well known entity and I was curious to see what they had to offer which impressed my sister so much. This is my experience.
Service was outstanding. Our waitress was very genuinely friendly and responsive and was the highlight of the visit. The food was served quickly and presented beautifully. Everything was good but nothing was eye opening or notable. I don’t say this in any negative way. My sister insists that the New Ulm offering is better than the Bay Area ones but not being a frequenter of the ones at home I had little to compare to. With that said, it was a classic American food adventure with no particular item being outstanding. In other words, I don’t think you will be wowed or disappointed if you choose to stop in. Also consider too that this is based on the collection of plates we ordered which you can see in the photos. There may be something that is truly wowing and it may be worth the effort to find it by stopping in yourself. If you are already a regular patron to the franchise, I would think this would be a par (or maybe better if you are from the Bay Area) visit for the course.

No wait to be seated; however, we had to wait a long time just for menus and water, then a very long time to get waited on, then we had to ask for silverware AFTER our food arrived.
I’ve ordered the Three-Cheese Penne several times, and it’s usually delicious. This time the chicken tasted really off; I did not finish the chicken. Our other entree was the grilled cheese hamburger sandwich with tomato soup, which was very tasty. It seemed there were only two Servers, but the dinner hour rush not yet begun. We’ve had similar issues before at this particular site. I’m sorry to say it was very disappointing.

Loved it! Went there on my bday and my husband and I ordered 2 for$28, had whiskey bacon burgers and artichoke dip as a appetizer, plus drinks. Was so impressed with my service from Kayla S, that I gave her a tip and I generally don’t tip often. She made my bday. The french fries were perfectly done and seasoned.

As always, Applebee’s in New Ulm was a wonderful restaurant filled with good food, a relaxing atmosphere, and exceptional service. Shout out to server Oliver for making the experience extra special!
