I can’t say enough good stuff about La Riviera!!! It looks like their Facebook page is kept current, with more info than google maps, so make sure you go to their fb page.
On to my review! We had actually chosen a different taco place for dinner but they were jam packed and didn’t answer the phone for takeout so we searched for other restaurants.
We found and agreed on la riviera. We called ahead for seating. Since we already struck out with one restaurant, we wanted to be a step ahead & we had a party of 7. They weren’t that busy, and we let them know that we would be there in a half hour.
The restaurant was easy to find. They were expecting us, and we were glad we got there when we did, because shortly after we got there, every seat and every table was taken!
I fell in love with this place as soon as I walked in! It was bright and festive, happy! The restaurant is small, but it’s homey. The waitstaff is very very kind, very very sweet and genuine.
The cooks, oh my the cooks!!!! They work magic! Those dishes they prepared for us were huge portions, extremely flavorful and frankly the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten!!
The salsa was highly flavorful with plenty of cilantro. I honestly could RAVE about each dish! I wish my stomach could hold more because the food was so delicious and flavorful!!
I wish I could have gotten dessert too!!! This is my favorite authentic restaurant, maybe even my absolute favorite!
I will be returning, and I will be bringing other family and friends with me!

Totally friendly staff and cosy environment. Not too noisy. Serves superb comfort food. We ordered the fajitas and seriously thinks this can be shared. The portion is rather generous I would say. Couldn’t really finish all. Its a pity. Would recommend anyone to come try!

Stopped in to eat here a few weeks ago while driving through the town. Sat in a booth with thoroughly worn and notably torn cushioning, but it was still clean and comfortable enough. The staff were very nice and quick to get things done, in no time flat they got us drinks (I was dining with my brother), took our orders and gave us a complimentary basket of tortilla chips and bowl of salsa, which was most appreciated.
The food arrived surprisingly quickly and was served hot. I have to give the cooks some props here. The food seemed pretty authentic to what you might actually get in Mexico, which seems ironically rare for Mexican restaurants. While there was a side platter with the favorite American add-ons, the Al Pastor Tacos’ (my meal of choice) double-layered soft corn tortillas, seasoned pork and toppings of onion and cilantro really gave it an authentic look and taste.
The place is very colorful. The walls are painted with various bright colors (yellow, orange, eggplant purple, lime green moulding). Clotheslines of tiny paper Mexican flags zip around, dangling just below the one-room dining area’s ~8 foot ceiling. Some might call it tacky, but I wasn’t bothered by it, and it certainly made it memorable. It’s also rather small. The entrance door is nestled a few feet away from some tables and booths, of which a collective twenty or so fill the room. From there, you’re never more than about twenty feet away from either the check-out counter or kitchen. The whole place seemed like a family business on a tight budget, which I respect.
With that being said, there were some oddities there. The bathroom looked like it could have used a cleaning upon my entrance, and I noticed several chipped spots on the wall where a quick paint touch-up would have solved some issues. Outside of that, my brother had a keen eye and pointed out the emergency light behind us was unplugged from the wall, an oddity which implied the light was not properly charged and would be useless if it was ever needed in a power-outage.
The last, and really only non-trivial thing, was the pork in my tacos, which was very tough and rubbery. This is the only thing that brought down my rating to three stars, as it made the meal hard to enjoy. My brother, however (who had some kind of fish taco), had no such issue, so I assume my experience is exception to the rule.
La Riviera’s a good place that could use a little fixing-up here or there. Although I likely won’t visit again (I only drove through on vacation), it seems like a respectable family-business place with a hard-working staff. If you’re hungry and driving through Manastee, I’d give it a chance.

First time here. I had the beef chimichanga at lunch. The tortilla chips were good although the accompanying sauce was bland – no kick!
The plate was of course piping hot – the pico de gala condiment was average – the refried beans ok – the avocado accent was fresh – the entree chimichanga was underwhelming. My meal was average / service was good – decor and ambiance was ok.

My family and I were driving through town and found Riviera’s. Some of the best authentic food I’ve had! Vegetarian Fajita was very yummy, and the portion size was more than I could finish. I’ll be coming back next time I’m in town!

Of the two Mexican restaurants in town this is by far the best and most reliable. Good food at a fair price served in a timely manner. The building sits right next to a curve in the road and I’ve always sat on the North end when dining in for fear of a car leaving the roadway. Sure enough, about a year ago a man in a pickup suffered a heart attack and crashed into the South side of the building! Nobody inside was hurt but that wouldn’t be the case if a semi hit it!

When you walk in, it can be rather… underwhelming. Nothing stands out, looks kind of small and the booths/tables aren’t the nicest. I also come from a bigger city so I am used to more flair when I dine.
That being said, this place has the absolute best Mexican food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The waiter brought us out chips, as is customary in these restaurants. The salsa is delightful, the perfect amount of spice for a house salsa. Refills were brought free of charge.
Chicken a la Mexicana (pictured below) is what I was lucky enough to choose that night. Above average portion sizes and the taste was incredible. Perfectly cooked and topped with some Mexican sausage that idk where it came from, heaven? Probably. No tortillas for me, but I had extra rice and ate it with chips and I seriously couldn’t stop eating. Even then, I still had enough for entire meal the next night.
10/10 HIGHLY recommend.
ALSO, prices are more than fair for what you get. $9-13 a meal is more than worth it.

Wonderful food and a nice quiet family atmosphere. Had the Burrito Loco for dinner and absolutely loved it! Shared the Flan for dessert and I was equally impressed. Very delicious! The non corporate feel of the inside made me feel like I was back eating in Mexico. Only downside was not having a margarita or Corona with dinner. Prices are great and service was spot on. Will definitely be back for more!

WOW! Chimichanga de Casa … Chicken, steak and.grilled shrimp. HUGE portion, lots guac, sour cream and pico. Plate is 16″ long, packed full. Muy delicioso!!! Fast, good service too.
