This place is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s located in a lower level from a food court/ market place on the ground level. Once you located a sign of the restaurant, you have to go down a spiral staircase to a level below. We made a reservation for omakase courses during lunch hour so not many people. Got a chef to serve us the whole course exclusively. All the fish were fresh, well prepared with good flavor. The dessert was so-so. Not bad but nothing to remember. The atmosphere was a bit eclectic but I think during the peak hour can be a bit noisy but since we were there during late lunch there were only a few customers so it felt exclusive. Overall a good value omakase for the price.

This is a true hidden gem inside the public market and can’t be passed up if you enjoy sushi. Take the stairwell down and slide open the door to a world of delicious flavors. The Omakase is a must and Chef Tony executes it very well along with great conversation. I’ve been here a couple times and it’s always on point. The vibe is dark with jazzy vibes if you listen closely and that made my experience even better. Another neat thing is that after your dining experience you can purchase a locket and engrave your name on it and hang it on the fence. How cool is that! Service is always great so definitely check this place.

I really loved this place! It is down a spiral staircase and we were greeted right away. The hostess took the time to explain how the menu worked and seated us. Really loved the atmosphere down there and everything we ate was really delicious. Some of the best tuna I’ve had in a long time. I look forward to coming here again.

Fanatic quality even for takeout. They put the rolls in these boxes that keep the fish safe and fresh. Such good fish, very fresh and perfect texture. Very delicious!

Whether you order specialty rolls upstairs from the kiosk or make a reservation for omakase downstairs, you’re in for the best sushi in Redlands.

I became a Shokunin diehard in Rancho Cucamonga and my taste buds are so happy to have this place close to home. Excellent service, quality ingredients, and delicious, creative bites!

The true test of freshness for fish for me is the serving at room temperature, and here, the quality shines through. So thankful to have Chef Tony in town and can’t wait to introduce more friends and family to this awesome spot!

Went into shokunin for an omakase lunch for the first time, left with my now favorite sushi spot close to home. Chef Tony is a master and takes the craft to heart, appreciating a more traditional japanese sushi style. Highlights on the menu for me were halibut and yellowtail with yuzu zest and lime/lemon zest respectively. To cap it off, they had a fresh tasting monkfish liver wich is not all common. Excellent peaceful atmosphere with attentive friendly staff, cannot wait to come back soon.

I love that it maintains a seemingly old school and traditional menu at the bar itself. It’s not the typical American style sushi bar filled with baked cut rolls. Lots of sashimi, nigiri, and hand cut rolls. Some really interesting Japanese beers, too!

At Redland’s Public Market you will find a sign that says Shokunin along with a kiosk to order sushi rolls to eat at the food court or to take it to go.

But hold on!

Hidden just below the Redlands Public Market is a charming little lounge that feels like a well-kept secret. Just across from the kiosk, a discreet spiraling staircase leads you to an elevated sushi experience. It’s like discovering a secret sushi speakeasy, where the chef curates a deliciously unique journey with every course. Let the chef surprise you with delicious and beautifully crafted bites—each one more delightful than the last. Enjoy.
