Miss old-fashioned Jersey shore breakfast? Look no further than Poppy’s. Run by Tina with Poppy (named by their grandson) in the kitchen. Their lunches are as good as their breakfasts!
The prices are unbelievable! And sandwiches come with soup or fries. (Get their soups, incredible and all homemade.) they have an extensive list of daily specials all under $13.95 (including the soup.
Huge menu. Their meatballs and gravy are homemade, so is their coleslaw and tartar sauce. Service is great. After 40 yrs in the restaurant biz, they know how to do it right!
They have a fun 50’s theme with Elvis memorabilia. Even the bathroom have fun 50’s decor.
But number 1, to die for, is their homefroes. Sliced thin with onions (on request), super crispy! The best I’ve ever had!!!
Drop by for Jersey food cooked by Italian-Americans! Can’t get better than that!

My son in law and daughter took me to Poppys Place. What a great experience! They are regulars there and I live in Florida, but when I come up to visit, we come here for breakfast. This place is a hidden gem !! The service is great and the staff there are ALL FANTASTIC!! NEVER had a bad experience at Poppys! When I come back to NJ for visits, I really look forward to coming here!

I absolutely love mom and pop diners. I will ALWAYS support places like this. We are here visiting family and they suggested we go here for breakfast because they are popular. I can see why, the sever was phenomenal and very kind and patient with my kids! The food was damn good. As was the service. I hope the place continues to thrive for years to come. I definitely Recommend this place!

On a road trip my wife and I like to avoid the fast food rest stops and decided to try this place because reviews were good. Located literally 2 minutes off Garden State Tom’s River exit 81 it is just as convenient as a rest stop. It is dated but I found that it added to the charm. The collection of toys records and artwork work from 50s and 60s pop culture is cool. While definitely a local place, the Staff and patrons were very friendly. Service was spot on. We both had pancakes and they were fluffy (it is not common to get fluffy pancakes in a diner!). If you find yourself passing through then give them a try!

Dont let its exterior deter you! Amazingly friendly service, a true “blast from the past,” with decor from the 50s ( from Betty Boop and Popeye to Sinatra and Elvis), Poppy’s Place is a great experience. The food is well prepared, and the portions are generous.

It’s like a mini cheers without the drinks…. everyone knows ya name. I like that vibe in today’s world.
I like my eggs over medium, dippy persay, with the white part cooked all the way. This is the only place I feel that can do this.
Excellent chicken noodle soup.
Chili is great, and their buffalo wings were doable.

Nice relaxing breakfast at small hole in the wall spot in downtown Tom’s River.
Today’s Breakfast Sandwich was fried eggs, bacon, ham, pork roll, sausage, hot cherry peppers with cheese.
Kit had scrambled eggs, bacon crispy and breakfast potatoes.
