What else is there to be said about Wario’s that hasn’t already been said? This place has become an icon in Columbus and for good reason! Incredible ingredients come together with ingenious recipes to make the best damn sandwiches you’ve ever had. Wario’s core menu consists of several phenomenal sandwiches, but the rotating specials are what keeps this place….well, special!! Follow their social media to keep track of what they’re making on the daily! If you’re coming from out of town or have visitors from out of town, Wario’s should be your first stop in Columbus. The icing on the cake are the awesome employees. They’re very efficient and always make sure to provide a great experience for their customers!

I struggle with reviewing this place. If I stopped in on my own with no expectations, this would easily be a 5/5 review. And yet, I feel due to the hype I was a little underwhelmed.

Let’s start off with what I ordered and sampled. I ordered a steak sammich, Wario’s Way, and I sampled my friend’s chicken cesar and cheesy potato spuds.

As for my steak sammich, it was good. I don’t notice much of a flavor difference between their cheesesteak and Penn Station’s. However, this thing has WAY more steak. It’s a huge sammich, truly. And they load this thing up with cheese. But all the cheese is on the bottom of the bun. So you have to take two bites to get all the flavors together.

The veggies on top didn’t seem to add much to the flavor. Probably wouldn’t have noticed any difference in the sammich if they weren’t there.

The chicken cesar was phenomenal though. I wish I had ordered it. The chicken was super crispy, the veggies were crisp, and that sauce….Holy bejeebus that sauce is amazing.

The potato spuds with cheese, steak, garlic etc….very meh. They were fine, but just that, fine.

All in all, I’ll go 5 stars overall. The staff was friendly and the dining area is nice. The food however does not live up to the hype. It’s also not cheap. $22 for a sammich is expensive, especially when it doesn’t stand out that much from other cheesesteaks that I’ve had for a little more than half that.

Staff is friendly and accommodating. Can’t go wrong with any of the options they offer but I recommend the steak Wario’s way. Cold cut & chicken Caesar are also good but ask for more Caesar dressing because it can be a bit dry. I prefer this location more than the downtown location because of parking.

A great Ohio restaurant! The sandwich is very big. The staff is kind and there are a lot of waiting customers. But the chicken sandwich is really delicious. If you come to Columbus, Ohio, you should definitely check it out

This place has been on our list for quite some time and glad we finally got to try it. We ordered the crispy chicken Caesar sandwich ($18) and The Steak sandwich with lite Whiz. This sandwich is absolutely two meals or best split between two because they are MASSIVE. The Caesar had such a unique flavor that my sister and I both enjoyed and we snuck bites of my parents’ Steak sandwich which was also excellent. We did order the house spuds and said we’d pass on those next time, to us they were just okay. It was quick to get the sandwiches and the service was great. We’d gladly come back to try the same sandwiches or different ones next time I’m in town!

I would not call myself an expert, but I do love me a good Philly cheese. This is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Pats and ginos in Philly may have given birth to the cheesesteak, but warios is the best. The disappointment from the birthplace is real. If you are in Columbus, do yourself a favor and get you a cheesesteak warios way. I would put the house made wiz on anything. The potatoes are good as well. Both locations have limited seating. Thats absolutely the only downside I can come up with.

Wario’s has been on our to-try list for a while, and didn’t disappoint. Good service, nice location, food was ready quickly. The sandwich? 10/10 would order again. We now want to try the entire sandwich menu! The spuds are also delicious- crisp, simple, and served with Wario sauce. This is not a full service restaurant, so be prepared to order, wait, maybe have a seat, maybe not… these sandwiches will taste just as good in your car! (Grab extra napkins!)

Update- we went again at it was better BUT they forgot our salad dressing. Their salad is great even wout BUT when you pay that much it should be there so I will double check the bags before I leave from low on.
Honestly this place is a sloppy version of the downtown one. Some how the original location crams more into your sandwich and it doesn’t get soggy even 3 days later. Unlike today’s subs at the Clintonville location that were soggy as soon as we get home (8mins away). I think they slice the bread too far open and use too much sauce which causes the crease to get soggy and fall apart and w how much in in the sub it makes it almost impossible to eat once that happens. BUT even w the that the taste is still so worth it! We will see how well the other halves hold up tomorrow 🙁
Even my kids and toddler love their food!

You don’t explain Wario’s. You take a bite, pause mid-chew, and suddenly understand. That “Wait… what did I just bite into?” moment? Yeah. That’s how it starts.

Wario’s doesn’t rely on gimmicks. It leans on craft. You can taste the intention behind every choice — the meats, the sauces, even the bread.

If you’re side-eyeing that $17 price tag, I hear you. But this isn’t overpriced lunch meat in disguise — it’s culinary-level food disguised as a sandwich.

The bread? A seeded semolina roll. Nutty, chewy, crisp outside, airy inside. Not filler — a foundational flex.

The Steak (Wario’s Way) comes with shaved ribeye, grilled onions, and house whiz — elevated with caramelized onions and garlic aioli. Normally I avoid cheese whiz, but this one’s seasoned and balanced. Pro tip: ask for light whiz. And those onions? Sweet, soft, and borderline French onion soup status.

The Roasted Pork sandwich is slow-roasted, juicy, and paired with broccoli rabe, picante provolone, and pork jus. Bold, herby, and worth it.

The Chicken Caesar sandwich delivers — crispy chicken, parmesan, romaine, Caesar dressing. Crunch meets creamy.

Chicken A La Vodka? Surprisingly good. Burrata, pesto, and crispy chicken make it work, even for a vodka sauce skeptic.

Cold Cut and Vegetarian sandwiches? Haven’t tried them. Not in this economy — not when pork shoulder is on deck.

The Spuds (smashed potatoes) are crispy outside, soft inside, and herbed with cheese. A perfect side when they’re on point.

The Pasta Salad looks beautiful but could use more flavor — maybe lemon, salt, or bolder dressing.

Location-wise, Clintonville is my favorite. Clean, efficient, and focused on the food. Other locations (Nationwide, East Market) are good but faster-paced.

They do sell out often. Follow them on Instagram for updates. Yes, they’re pricier — but you taste every dollar in the quality, flavor, and care.

Bottom line: Wario’s doesn’t overdo. It just does everything well. Real food. Real care. Real flavor.

If you’ve been wondering if it’s worth it? It is.

GREAT spot with AWESOME food! Seriously, I could eat here weekly. My husband and I got “The Steak: Wario’s Way” (which means extra cheese) and it was very good. Well cooked meat with plenty of cheese – the sweet onions made a great topping.
The service was remarkable and I loved the busy-kitchen environment they had going on! Great spot. I will be coming back!
