I’ve been coming here for years. This is the locals go-to place. And it’s mine as well.

Charlas has GREAT food and a family atmosphere!

Want to know where the bartenders of other places come to drink? It’s Charlas.

They are a great family and have a great restaurant/bar.

It has a dive sort of feel but in a good clean way.

Btw- say hi to Lisa. She is a bartender here that is meaner than a six foot rattlesnake you are trying to put in a pot of boiling water. I love her.

I’ve been coming to this fine establishment since 2009 and hope to keep coming here as long as they’re around and I’m able. It’s a comfort place for me with hands down the best caldo De rez in Midland. It’s also one of the few places in Midland you can get menudo during the week. Charlas has the option of a formal dining experience or a dive bar setting. They even have a small room you could possibly reserve for a small party. The bar is my favorite area to eat in.

Ok Mondays is the day to go they are the only place in town that has fideo on the menu as a meal and the staff is definitely very friendly and super accommodating, oh and the topper is they make fresh tortillas!!!!

Service was fast. Inside is a bit run down looking with the walls covered in one dollar bills defaced by many.
The chips & salsa were good. The taco salad was nothing to “write home about”. The bottom of the shell was extremely soggy when I got half way thru the salad. The size of it was not worth the cost. The sweet tea was extremely sweet but counteracted the spicy kick in the salsa.

Charlas is an excellent restaurant and experience. My wife and I went here to celebrate a special occasion and the staff was so friendly. Beyond that, the food was among the best in the region for Mexican — which is saying something since this area has lots of top shelf Mexican/Tex-Mex food. Will return in the near future!

Long-time Charlad customer. I ordered the brisket tacos, they were not as good as they used to be. Used ti be extra fat and plump. Now there just barely there. The charro beans were more like Mexican bbq baked beans i did not like them. The first salsa they brought me out was too sweet. The second salsa they brought out was like a hot paste, extremely hot, just weird overall. I know it’s a family run business and I’ve usually had nothing but great food. I hope they bring back the quality and consistency they used to have. Bacon wrapped Jalapeño shrimp was good and the Dos Xx Micheladas are really tasty. Kool little bar inside to hang out. The place desperately needs a remodel and music in the eating area. Its so dead in there like a library. Its been that way for years and probably never will change! I hope it does cause I know they have the capabilities of being a great restaurant. Bring back the great food please!
