I tried the loco moco, poke tacos, and the MahiMahi. All dishes were phenomenal.
If you arrive around 5:00pm they have live music. And the view!!! You look out over the water. What a great welcome to Hawaii.
Our server was friendly and easy going and her recommendations were perfect! Portion sizes were perfect- not tiny and not overwhelmingly huge with room for desert!
Chicken Katsu
Fish tacos
Kalua pork plate
What did the fish say after eating a big meal?
I’m blow-ted.
We parked in their gravel lot, and walked past a thicket of growth to an outdoor stairwell. It doubled back on itself, leading us into the dining room, filled with a combination of locals and tourists. We were seated immediately and we’re pleasantly surprised by the view of a marina, with mountains in the distance.
A waitress brought water and menus shortly after we sat down. She was courteous and efficient. She took our orders after bringing our drinks. Our food arrived shortly afterwards.
I had the crispy shrimp appetizer. My wife had a garden salad with salmon. Both were excellent. And the check was very reasonable. Given the opportunity, I’d go back here in a heartbeat.
Service was mixed, our assigned caterer was very friendly attentive and food was very affordable and fast.
Starters fries and clam chowder
Fries are good, the clam chowder which seemed popular and highly rated wasnt great, not sure how many clams were in there but they had been chopped fine and it was flavored with something to make up for lack of main ingredient, also very flour’y.
Mains, beef paddy with egg on top/macaroni. This was good, liked the beef and sides were fresh.
Ahi main. This fresh fish main was beautiful and well garnished/sauce was excellent.
We had the Lichee margarita, excellent..
I had the ” Best Bloody Mary in Hawaii”, no comment as it was my first and condiments on top were not very appetizing, tomatoes juice in alcohol.. nope, which leads me to negative part.
Bit of a negative was asking another service staff for a beer, in NZ its not normal to have designated service for our table.
We would ask for a beer and that wouldn’t be an issue, I think the non designated waiter said something like “Im not your waiter” it was a bit odd and off putting to be honest.
Asked to pay the bill and was a bit of a merry go round. I think cash or card just gets handed to the wait staff. We only had phone/pay wave, I think the battery needed charging? Not sure but took some time to just pay up and leave.
Pricing was good and service i want to give 5 star except for the asking for a beer and settling the bill.
