Consistently great, genuinely family-run. I’ve been coming to Real Tequila in Anacortes for years and love that it’s truly family operated—you see the same friendly faces every visit, and sometimes the kids pitching in midday, refilling waters and helping clear plates. The manager always stops by to say hello and make sure we have everything we need, and the servers are attentive without hovering. The food is delicious and consistent, with portions that feel just right. As a local, it’s my go-to Mexican spot because I always know what to expect: warm service, a welcoming atmosphere, and reliably tasty plates. Thanks to the whole team for always making us feel seen and taken care of.

Our first time here. Guests next to us suggested the special, Molcajete Bowl. We did it! We shared it. Worth every penny. We both agreed it was the best flavor we have ever had with Mexican Food. We have had some great Mexican food, local, San Diego, Texas, etc. This place was great. Margaritas are good too. The staff is amazing.
If you are still reading, stop. Just go, you won’t be disappointed. Spend the money and get the special. So delicious.

They charged me for absolutely everything they could. Only Mexican place I’ve ever seen that charges for chips and salsa. Charged for sour cream. They probably would charge for a napkin if I asked for two. Food was good but won’t be returning due to inflating the ticket

Came at around 4pm on a Friday. Got there before the rush, which was nice. Food was really good. I personally recommend the fajitas. They were so good. Came with rice and beans. Can choose from flour or corn tortillas. Came with a lot of meat! Rice and beans are above average for Mexican restaurants. The drinks were normal size and tasted good as well. The Paloma is a good choice. The server turned the day around and was good by the end of our stay. A lady came around and checked on us and was super friendly. It’s worth a try if you’re considering it!

I’m Mexican. I’ve eaten all these dishes for years.
None of the dishes were what I knew from other places. Burritos look like enchiladas, and the tortilla soup missed many ingredients. Also, the cooking was very unfamiliar.
Nevertheless that, the flavor was much better than in other places. The restaurant was clean, the staff was attentive, and they had various Mexican beers and sodas.

Friendly staff, bright and clean. We ordered jalapeño margarita, super burrito with chicken, pork carnitas burrito, and churros. The margaritas were great and the burritos were okay.

Clean atmosphere, friendly staff, food is hot and delicious. Rice is a little hard for my liking, but great taste. Decent prices. Check it out if you’re visiting!

Ok so I work in Anacortes and go by this place all the time and at lunch is always full so I thought I would try it especially after seeing so many good reviews. This was my experience. First the chips were pretty stale and hard the salsa is hotter than most but i like that slows me down from eating to many chips lol. I ordered chicken en mole as this is my judge dish for all Mexican restaurants lol ! The sauce it self was kinda grainy and the flavor was just bit off used to a more sweet chocolate type sauce . The chicken was hard to the bite and didn’t want to come apart in my tortilla . The rice was kinda hard and dry . The beans were ok . There was no garnish like a bit of lettuce and tomatoe ,onions etc. My diet Pepsi was flat . Most people don’t know but soda vendors will adjust your machine for free if you just ask. Over all was ok but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to go back. In my humble opinion Agave up the street is way better. The staff was super friendly. I hate to judge a restaurant by one dish one time so maybe I’ll go back and try again.

Wow, Amazing, a complete culinary oragasam
I’ve eaten at a number of Mexican restaurants and hands down, Real Tequila in Anacortes is by far the best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at.
Service was spot on, food was prepared and served quickly and cooked to perfection. DO NOT FORGET TO FINISH OFF YOUR MEAL WITHOUT HAVING SOME FLAN.
Servers were attentive to their customers’ every need.
Absolutely the best. 10 out of five stars
Update:
We moved away from the area and have been gone for about a year and we came back to have lunch and nothing has changed the food is still excellent the service is excellent the atmosphere is excellent again nothing has changed just places absolutely amazing quality is consistent

The service was non-existent. We were forgotten..we asked the (I presume) owner if we could order.
Chili Relleno was tough, could not chew through it…and the three-taco plate was OK. All the food was bland. We asked to pay….a number of times. No one came back. Not to ask how the food was, more water, pick the credit card up…nothing. They charge for an extra salsa! The bill was $50.00 bucks!! Eventually, the man came over with a credit card machine.
I am giving an extra star because there was one waitress.
