This spot will do the job if it’s one of the only options available to you late at night on a Friday or Saturday while downtown…otherwise, I’d steer clear of it.

I popped by here one night while in town and checking out a few bars on a Friday night.
Like I said in my opening, it was one of the only options for food still available, and had a variety of options on its menu, so decided to give it a go.

It’s a simple, spacious, well-lit, and (mostly) clean dining area within – you place your order at the counter towards the end of the dining space.

Upon entering, I was pretty much the only customer there.
I had my order promptly taken and decided to give their BBQ Chicken Hoagie a try since I know that’s a popular item in the area and I hadn’t gotten one yet.

Then I waited…and waited…and waited…for one regular sized sandwich with no one else ahead of me for orders.
After almost 30 minutes, I finally received it, and what I got was….meh?

It certainly was a BBQ sauce on the chicken….no mistake there…as it pretty much was doused in it and drowned out any other flavors the Hoagie may have had….although I couldn’t tell if there were any other ingredients in there that it was supposed to have, aside from maybe one or two small pieces of the green pepper.

Regardless, it was late at night and I was hungry, so I ate it up.
Did it fill me up and do its job? Sure.
Would I recommend this for any occasion other than one I was in where it was one of the last eating options in downtown available?
Mmmmm….no.

Pizza Bari – Downtown Pittsburgh
961 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Late night hunger brought me into Pizza Bari in downtown Pittsburgh, looking for something to carry me over until the next day. This is one of those spots that stays open well past midnight, which is a huge plus when most nearby restaurants are closed.

Based on my receipt, I ordered a Chicken Salad – $16.99, with homemade ranch dressing on the side. After a small cash discount, my total came to $17.45 with tax.

The salad arrived fairly quickly in a clear plastic container. Along with the ranch I requested, I was also given an Italian dressing that I didn’t ask for. While that wasn’t a big issue, the food quality itself was disappointing. The salad appeared pre-boxed, the grilled chicken was cold, and the fries were also cold. I’m also not a fan of iceberg lettuce, which made the salad even less enjoyable overall. Greek location serving iceberg lettuce. Spinach or kale would have been best.

To be honest, this was not the best salad, but hunger took over and I did eat it.

That said, Pizza Bari is well known and highly recommended for its pizza and Turkish food, and I’ve heard consistently good things about those menu items. I would not recommend the salad, but I am willing to give this place another chance with different food options.

If you’re looking for a solid after-hours spot when everything else downtown is closed, Pizza Bari definitely earns points for availability alone.

✔️ Best for: Late-night eats
❌ Skip:The salad
Will return for: Pizza or Turkish dishes

I saw the great reviews. I ordered the buffalo chicken salad and paid extra for the kalmata olives. The texted when the door was ready and everything appeared great. I got back to the hotel and realized I paid $1.99+ for kalmata olives and instead got black olives. The breaded chicken marinated in buffalo sauce was grilled and no buffalo sauce. It was a rather disappointing salad. I should have just gone to the Mexican restaurant closer to my hotel. (Picture of my “kalmata olives and breaded chicken . marinaded in buffalo sauce”).

It was my favorite place. But from last time from my visiting getting worse. Plov was served a little bit cold and it was difficult to chew the rice, it wasn’t properly cooked. But it was first time happened to me, usually plov is so good here before, and honey cake was disappointing too. The top of the cake looked good, but the middle was burnt and I could eat only the top, the rest was trash. And now I ordered the cake again, it has so so thin cream . It has more dough and less cream . Last time I had a lot of cream but burnt half cake. I can’t keep giving chances to this place anymore

Ordered the buffalo chicken pizza and BBQ wings both were really good! The pizza had a great balance of spicy buffalo flavor with plenty of chicken, and the crust held up nicely. The BBQ wings were saucy, flavorful, and cooked well. Definitely satisfied with this order and would order again

Had a great experience from ordering to receiving our pizzas. We had the gluten free Ranchero Chicken which was awesome and my wife who has celiac had no adverse effects. I had a traditional cheese pizza which was also very good. Would definitely recommend Pizza Bari!

The pilaf is such a good portion for the price. Very delicious Uzbekistani food and friendly staff. I ordered a Bari plov set(comes with salad, tea, bread), fruit tea (hibiscus), one manti, and sat here from lunch (12pm) to dinner (6pm) to do work because it wasn’t crowded and the tables were comfortable and clean and no one bothered me. The prices are all tax included, which just feels good. The plov are so delicious. I thought it was a two meal portion initially but it was so good I finished in one meal (incredibly full afterwards of course). The meat is very tender and so are the veggies cooked with the rice, as well as being very aromatic and flavorful. Was such a delightful experience (good value for the price and delicious) . Manti has a lot of meat for 4 dollars. The bread is also quite good. Suzma (yogurt) is a mix of sour cream, yogurt, and cream cheese taste and texture, perfect to go with bread. All of this was two meal portion for a little girl like me. Would 100% recommend if you are a big meat eater.

Unethical staff and Specially there Owner!!! No manners at all.

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was extremely poor from the start. When our food arrived, the beef kabobs had a strong smell and honestly looked and tasted more like lamb. It was very off-putting and not what we ordered. We had the same kabobs before, it tasted totally different and had no smell.

They never offered to change the dish, the situation was handled very poorly.

On top of this, a guy came, said he’s an owner, he was very rude and dismissive instead of trying to resolve the issue professionally he rather chose to shout on customer and talking very rudely. Rather than addressing our concern respectfully, he spoke to us in a disrespectful manner.

To make matters worse, there was also an issue with the bill, and the way it was handled by there “Owner” felt VERY disrespectful. Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor service, and unpleasant food experience made this visit extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place based on our experience.

Short review: Best Food in Pittsburgh Ever. Long review: It took us a while to find, but this restaurant is a real hidden gem. I really struggle to find authentic food in Pittsburgh area that’s affordable. As soon as you walk in the restaurant, you KNOW it’s going to be good just by the decor and the smell. Ismoil and Odil at the front were so kind and willing to help. I will be coming here as long as I have $10 to spare for a gyro(which is HUGE and very good) If you like try delicious food you HAVE to come here!
