Pizza Bari Halal Review – A Hidden Uzbek Menu Downtown
Reviews
I popped by here one night while in town and checking out a few bars on a Friday night.
Like I said in my opening, it was one of the only options for food still available, and had a variety of options on its menu, so decided to give it a go.
It’s a simple, spacious, well-lit, and (mostly) clean dining area within – you place your order at the counter towards the end of the dining space.
Upon entering, I was pretty much the only customer there.
I had my order promptly taken and decided to give their BBQ Chicken Hoagie a try since I know that’s a popular item in the area and I hadn’t gotten one yet.
Then I waited…and waited…and waited…for one regular sized sandwich with no one else ahead of me for orders.
After almost 30 minutes, I finally received it, and what I got was….meh?
It certainly was a BBQ sauce on the chicken….no mistake there…as it pretty much was doused in it and drowned out any other flavors the Hoagie may have had….although I couldn’t tell if there were any other ingredients in there that it was supposed to have, aside from maybe one or two small pieces of the green pepper.
Regardless, it was late at night and I was hungry, so I ate it up.
Did it fill me up and do its job? Sure.
Would I recommend this for any occasion other than one I was in where it was one of the last eating options in downtown available?
Mmmmm….no.
961 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Late night hunger brought me into Pizza Bari in downtown Pittsburgh, looking for something to carry me over until the next day. This is one of those spots that stays open well past midnight, which is a huge plus when most nearby restaurants are closed.
Based on my receipt, I ordered a Chicken Salad – $16.99, with homemade ranch dressing on the side. After a small cash discount, my total came to $17.45 with tax.
The salad arrived fairly quickly in a clear plastic container. Along with the ranch I requested, I was also given an Italian dressing that I didn’t ask for. While that wasn’t a big issue, the food quality itself was disappointing. The salad appeared pre-boxed, the grilled chicken was cold, and the fries were also cold. I’m also not a fan of iceberg lettuce, which made the salad even less enjoyable overall. Greek location serving iceberg lettuce. Spinach or kale would have been best.
To be honest, this was not the best salad, but hunger took over and I did eat it.
That said, Pizza Bari is well known and highly recommended for its pizza and Turkish food, and I’ve heard consistently good things about those menu items. I would not recommend the salad, but I am willing to give this place another chance with different food options.
If you’re looking for a solid after-hours spot when everything else downtown is closed, Pizza Bari definitely earns points for availability alone.
✔️ Best for: Late-night eats
❌ Skip:The salad
Will return for: Pizza or Turkish dishes
We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was extremely poor from the start. When our food arrived, the beef kabobs had a strong smell and honestly looked and tasted more like lamb. It was very off-putting and not what we ordered. We had the same kabobs before, it tasted totally different and had no smell.
They never offered to change the dish, the situation was handled very poorly.
On top of this, a guy came, said he’s an owner, he was very rude and dismissive instead of trying to resolve the issue professionally he rather chose to shout on customer and talking very rudely. Rather than addressing our concern respectfully, he spoke to us in a disrespectful manner.
To make matters worse, there was also an issue with the bill, and the way it was handled by there “Owner” felt VERY disrespectful. Overall, the lack of professionalism, poor service, and unpleasant food experience made this visit extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place based on our experience.
