MUST TRY IN KENMARE!!! The food was excellent and the service outstanding!!! Nice location on the Main Street with parking changing over frequently. Ample seating and the restaurant was clean and inviting. The burger with an egg was excellent. Fish and chips were possibly the best we have had in Ireland. The staff was very helpful.

Hands down the best fish and chips! Service was wonderful and we sat upstairs which was very neat. And they served you up there. Very nice place to pop in and grab a bite when in the area.

Good coffee, pies and tarts but the service style is horrible. Stay in line at the counter, wait for one staff member to take the order, prepare and take payment. Whilst the other personnel is cleaning stuff. So the customer is not really centric at this place.

While enjoying the atmosphere of Kenmare we lost track of time and suddenly it was 9pm and restaurant kitchens were closing. We headed up to Gourmet Grill on Main Street and we’re relieved to hear it was open till 10pm. We ordered the Scampi and chips and a burger and chips and two soft drinks.
The staff of 3 were very busy cleaning everything towards the end of the shift. The place was spotless. We were the only customers at that hour but our food on proper plates with cutlery arrived piping hot. My burger was excellent with cheese and bacon and a fresh bun. The scampi was superb. Huge fresh prawns from a Kerry based fishmonger. The only problem we had was there were too many chips. We couldn’t finish them. They were the real fresh cut chips from real spuds perfectly cooked. Other customers arrived and as they were foreign visitors the staff were most helpful. A top class operation of hard working local people in a friendly family atmosphere. The scampi was under €15! Definitely will be back.

Found by accident because the Wharton’s van is closed on Mondays. Not quite 5 stars, but decent.
Burgers very well received. Fish was very nice. Chicken Wings all eaten to the bone.
One of our party commented that “chips were not as good” as the one’s from the Wharton’s van.
I’d have to try chicken fillet burger next time.

Folks, if your not from kenmare you prob don’t know about the gourmet grill(like ourselves) but it’s well worth a visit, beef burgers are really good, classic burger simple but great. We also got chips and curry and chips cheese garlic, both are really good, serious feed as well.
