When it was finally my turn, I asked for ghee karam idly. They said they had only one plate left, which I requested. I then placed a large order of around $50, including poori, dosa, shawarma, and chicken fried rice with extra garlic and chili. They quoted a 30-minute wait, but I ended up waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes.
During this time, I repeatedly checked on my order. Each time, I was told to “wait 5–15 more minutes,” even though current order numbers were still far behind mine. At one point, they seemed to forget my order entirely and asked me again what I had ordered.
When my food was finally ready:
• The ghee karam idly I confirmed before ordering had already been served to someone else. They offered a smaller substitute, but only after 1 hour and 20 minutes of waiting, and it was poorly packed, spilling into other dishes.
• My chicken fried rice was missing the garlic and chili I paid extra for.
• The packaging overall was sloppy, causing spills, including the shawarma, making it difficult to even hold.
• Most of the food was cold due to the extremely long wait.
I also tried calling the truck while waiting in my car, but no one answered. It was impossible to get updates without physically checking multiple times, which was especially difficult in freezing weather.
Overall, the service was slow, disorganized, and unprofessional. Despite waiting in very cold conditions, the staff showed little concern for customer experience. While some of the food may have been okay, the combination of long wait times, missing items, spilled food, and poor communication made this a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I cannot recommend this food truck based on this visit.
overall it has still been a good experience. I’m a frequent customer of both the McKinney branch as well as the Denton branch, and I hope to see the quality return to its best.
Its in an open area, so the mosquitoes had a party biting us on a hot summer evening, so come prepared with creams or bands to save yourself.
Tried multiple items and every single one was a letdown. The Frankie felt like it was made with a frozen chapati and completely tasteless. No freshness at all.
Benne dosa was nowhere close to what a real benne dosa should be. It had no proper flavor and was overloaded with random spices which ruined the taste. Definitely not authentic.
The fried rice was the worst of all dripping in oil to the point it felt like the same oil had been reused again and again. Heavy and inedible.
Very poor quality, no taste, and zero attention to how food should actually be prepared. Would not recommend.

Denton has some good trucks for South Indian street food, and this includes Golconda Xpress. It’s located in a washeteria area complex, very close to UNT. They have two picnic benches to sit and eat, but they fill up quickly, especially on weekends.
Now for the menu- they offer South Indian street food with weekend specials with mutton curry on Fridays and chicken curry on Saturdays & Sundays. We got the stuffed mirchi, weekend special of onion dosa with chicken curry, a side of bagara rice, samosa chaat, punugulu, bonda, and chicken Hakka noodles. Their food is spicy. If you want really less spice, make sure to mention that to them (their normal is spicy). The lines were long on the weekend, but the service is pretty fast. All of their tiffin orders come with a side of three chutneys, all which were perfect, but kinda spicy.
The bonda is their signature dish, and for good reason. It was crispy, but perfectly fluffy and soft in the inside. I definitely recommend this. The onion dosa is large, crispy, and went very well with the chicken curry. Chicken curry was spicy, but it’s balanced out when you have it with one of the sides (they offer parotta, dosa, poori, and bagara rice as sides). We also tried it with the bagara rice, and it was a two thumbs up! I was a bit hesitant to try the bagara rice because some people really load it up with the clove and whole cinnamon flavor, but there’s was perfectly balanced. It had flavor, but was not overpowering.
Stuffed mirchi was a straight 5/5. Their chicken curry and chutneys were spicy, so I was skeptical about trying the mirchi (I was sure my tongue was gonna be on fire and there was no ice cream offered), but it turned out to be one of the best items we had! The stuffing really helps balance out the spice. And the stuffing was done really well with the mixture and peanuts. Punugulu was also good. They’re a bit smaller, but still tasty and large portion to keep you filled. We ordered the chicken Hakka noodles less spice, and they did lessen the spice, but I still felt it was kinda spicy. It was pretty tasty though.
The only thing I felt was just okay was the samosa chaat, and maybe it’s because you should eat it fast so it doesn’t get soggy (which I didn’t )
All in all, a solid place to check out some street food
