We stopped in for lunch to sit down for minute and relax. They had cold beers for a good price and the tacos were good. The best parts were the service and the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. It is on the 4th floor and there is an elevator inside the store of 1st floor.

If you have every read any of my reviews. I normally only put up positive reviews. Because people can have a bad day. But what was served today goes beyond having a bad day. We had visited the place before, to get a whiskey and coke.
They were almost closed. We spoke with the very friendly staff. And we asked for their recommendation as it seemed like such a nice place. All three male wait staff recommended the chicken cordon bleu.
I asked would you serve this to your mom. They all assured me they would serve this dish to their mom. And that their mom’s would love it. I have other men just stop and completely change the item when I asked you would serve this to your mom.
It’s authentic chicken cordon bleu? I asked again.
Because it’s an Mexican restaurant that caters to the American tourist. And you would not expect this to be great. We recommend it. The baked potatoe is awesome. With cheddar and sour cream. We were sold.

OK we should of left when the salads arrived. There was water at the bottom of the salad plate. We had asked for paper napkins as my friends allergies were acting up. I used the paper napkin to absorb the water. I ordered ranch. Joe my friend ordered his salad with blue cheese dressing. It said after we left it tasted like the dressing had gone bad. When you order chicken cordon bleu you have an expectation of a tender chicken breast. An choice cut of ham, and good quality cheese. You do not expect to receive a previously frozen chicken patty that was already cooked then frozen. It is similar to the dollar tree frozen chicken patty. It was one of those, that was rolled and flattened out the the size of a small saucer. Then on top of that? They put pickles. Yes you read that correct pickles. I pulled off 10 pickles from mine.
Joe’s only had 4 pickles.
Then they took low quality ham that you use for sandwiches. Very low quality. It was square and dried out. See photo.
Then they put 3 slices of fake imitation American processed cheese food.
The kind again used for sandwiches. The fake type that DOES NOT MELT.
You could see the square shape when I opened it up.
Then dip that in a batter and deep fry it. Joe took a bite of his and stopped. I took a bite of mine and realized it has pickles on it. I stopped and opened mine. I literally removed 10 pickles. I looked at Joe. He tried another bite and pushed his food away and said I’m not eating that. It’s disgusting. Joe never complains about food. He always has something positive to say about food even when it’s bad. I’ve seen him eat burned food at a restaurant and not complain. He said let just go. Me no we will take it home. I’m not paying to take two bites our if the food and leave it in the table. We do have my rescue dogs. The salsa we received was excellent. It was fresh. The coke was from a glass bottle and was great. The place looks fantastic. A very nice quality interior. Excellent tables, decor and super friendly staff. We were so disappointed. I think this is my first negative restaurant review since I’ve been reviewing for Google. But this was not the result of a chef having a bad day. I don’t know what this was, but was just sad experience. Again the staff was great. The coke in the bottle was great. The salsa was great.

The food here is really good and the margarita was probably one of the best I’ve had in Progreso. The salsa is heat warm and really good. Add it to your food. Yum! I added it to my shrimp tacos which put them over the top. They we’re really good without even adding the salsa. There is music and a dance floor. The restaurant is on the 4th floor and an elevator gets you there. The elevator is located next to the bar in the store. Prices here are very reasonable. The waiters are great.

It’s a border town with a bar literally on a dirty street with tons of street vendors walking up. The music was loud and they were pouring shots. So expect that. I did not eat. I had one beer. Service was fine and they will overcharge for beer if you let them. It was exactly what I expected.

This place will make you feel pretty safe when out to dinner in Mexico. I had the tacos and they were good, but the portions were pretty small. The waiters were all dressed and tuxedos and professional. They have their own parking lot that is free to park as long as you are buying food there

I had Angel’s special with 2 tacos, tamales and enchiladas. Food was good, but not great. It took a long time for us to get our order taken and served.
I also had a Mojito, which didn’t taste much like a mojito, but still tasted good.

Angels restaurant is very nice and a clean place to eat. When I travel to Progresso I usually park in that area and that is the first stop. I will start off with a cold Indio beer and some chips and salsa. They serve the best fajitas in Progresso and the staff are very friendly.
